Requirements to become a foster parent
Utah families receive monthly foster care payments to help offset the costs of raising a child. This stipend is meant for room and board, clothing, and related expenses.
The amount you receive varies based on a child's age and needs. Children that require more attention and care have slightly higher rates.
Foster youth have their medical and dental needs covered through Medicaid. This insurance should be enough for any doctor's visits, therapy sessions, dental exams, etc. Foster children also qualify for free school lunches.
Utah parents can take advantage of mentorship programs that allow them to learn from more experienced foster families. It's an excellent way to connect with others and build a support network. Plus, you'll have someone else to turn to if you have questions.
Utah Kids Belong has an app that gives foster parents access to special discounts from foster-friendly businesses. It's also an easy way to connect with faith-based communities, which may offer other types of support.

My experience was scary, but great. I went through heart to heart six years ago and I still receive pictures and letters from my daughter's parents. I don't regret anything and I'm happy I did it for my child and her parents. The agency was very supportive and I think you can really trust them. I've had another baby since then that I kept with me, I'm a little older now and I'm doing fine for myself and my 4 kids. I'm pregnant now and I'm not sure if I can keep another baby.

I was going to use Heart To Heart to place my baby but found out almost from the start that everything I had been told was all a complete lie. When myself and a few of the other moms confronted one of the workers,Patti, she said she didn't know why we had been told any of this but never mentioned fixing any of the problems. That's not the only things that happened. I became sick and when I tried to use my debit card to buy medicine it had been shut off. To top that off when I got back to my apartment I found an eviction notice because H2H had not paid the rent.
They had also been threatening all the birth mother's with being sued if they changed their minds about the adoption. Which I found out is also illegal.
The women who work for the agency have no compassion for any of the birth mother's. When my grandpa became sick and then my uncle died 3 days later I had to contact an attorney because H2H refused to send me home telling me that until I signed the adoption papers they wouldn't send me home. Which is illegal. Once I did get home I was given Luci as my contact person for my adoption... She turned out to be the most insensitive person there. I had to contact her. I was homeless when I left and homeless when I got home. She told me that when not in Utah they only help with a little bit of what the mothers need.
I have decided that H2H is not a good agency to go thru. I would never recommend anyone going thru these people.
I truly hope this is helpful to anyone that reads this.
