Requirements to become a foster parent
Utah families receive monthly foster care payments to help offset the costs of raising a child. This stipend is meant for room and board, clothing, and related expenses.
The amount you receive varies based on a child's age and needs. Children that require more attention and care have slightly higher rates.
Foster youth have their medical and dental needs covered through Medicaid. This insurance should be enough for any doctor's visits, therapy sessions, dental exams, etc. Foster children also qualify for free school lunches.
Utah parents can take advantage of mentorship programs that allow them to learn from more experienced foster families. It's an excellent way to connect with others and build a support network. Plus, you'll have someone else to turn to if you have questions.
Utah Kids Belong has an app that gives foster parents access to special discounts from foster-friendly businesses. It's also an easy way to connect with faith-based communities, which may offer other types of support.

When my wife and I first decided we were interested in adoption we started looking for agencies to help us, we were very impressed with Forever Bound from the very beginning. When we first met with Steve, the owner of FBA, he shared with us some of the statics surrounding number of hopeful adoptive couples to infants and to be honest we were a little discouraged after that first meeting. We talked about it and decided this felt right and pushed forward anyway, a decision I will never regret. I still remember the call when Steve reached out to me to let me know that there was a birth mother who was interested in meeting with us, and the immediate excitement as he gave me the information and then I called my wife to tell her the good news. I don't think either my wife and I or FBA knew the drama that would surround our adoption, and to put it lightly without going into a lot of detail let just say that it was a crazy adoption with lots of circumstances outside of our control. That being said I was really grateful that we were working with FBA throughout this process, Steve was very supportive throughout all the drama and was there anytime we needed to get a hold of him. I can happily report that things are now finalized and we couldn't be couldn't be any happier with FBA, if we decide to adopt again we will for sure go through FBA, or if anybody ever asks, we will be recommending them for sure!

Not a great experience, lack of communication as we were the ones who had to reach out to see any progress. The only time they met with us in person was a intern handing us promotional items to hand out and market them. The other times we had scheduled they cancelled. We were told we would receive a report of how many times our profile was shared each month and got it a few times only after we asked for it. In those times we were only shown to a few people. Not sure what our money went towards to be honest. Really let down by this company.

The fact that there's a lack of diversity in the couples they allow to adopt should be a big warning sign for anyone who is thinking about giving their baby up for adoption

We have adopted 3 children, 2 of which we adopted through Forever Bound. Forever Bound is far and away the best agency we have dealt with! They are ethical - they take care of the Birth Moms and truly want them to heal and have their best interests at heart. They are also very transparent with costs incurred and fees which is something other agencies do not do. They are extremely kind and understanding of adoptive couples and we felt taken care of every step of the way. They are truly AMAZING!! We would recommend them to everyone! Best agency out there!
