Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

26 health is amazing! From setting up an appointment thru Milena everything is so seamless and quick and hassle free! Milena made sure that all my needs are taken cared of and that my insurance (Cigna) will cover the service that I needed which is Surgery Clearance Letter. She helped me with the whole process from looking for a therapist to faxing the letter to my surgeon. Every thing is spot on! Also the therapist that I spoke to which is Brienne, she is amazing and she created an environment which is safe that you can share your thoughts and feelings! I can’t recommend this clinic enough! If you need anything from mental health to HRT this is the place to be! So happy I found you guys 🧡❤️🥰😘
