Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

DO NOT COME HERE
1. Communication from this place is horrendous. They never pick up the phone and fail to call you back. Yet they want their money all the time, they fail to actually care about you.
2. Staff is rude. You would think for an LGBTQ clinic, they would be friendly…way opposite from that. The clinic has such a high turn over (over 60% from inside info) no wonder the staff aren’t friendly.
3. Not the best medical care. Honestly there are other locations in Orlando that provide much better services for the lgbtq health/services.
4. I just don’t recommend this place.

My fiancé zayden & I, are VERY picky where we go for his appointments, t shots, etc… When we met with Ms. Gaitre Khanna, THAT WAS IT! Honestly because of her we will continue to go to 26 health! She is just an absolute sweet heart!!! Goes above and beyond for you! She is not just an employee at 26 health but a part of our family! Thank-you so much for everything Gaitre!! <3

I've been a patient with them for 3 years now, and while the actual health providers are wonderful and do their best to help, the front office and administration is abysmal. It's always been hard to get ahold of them, and they've always been really strict about costs, but lately it's gone downhill even further.
They're impossible to get ahold of, sometimes rather rude, and very unforgiving if you miss a call. I've had to pay extra multiple times because I've missed their call to update insurance, and they never return my calls back. They also send intakes over and over, which I dutifully fill out with the same information over and over (I'm up to about 6 or 7 intakes in the last 2 years), which calls into question their record keeping.
I've gone without my medications for a few weeks twice because they move an appointment and won't return my call to send an extra script to cover the time I won't have meds, and I've been charged for things I never received (an EKG they attempted but could not complete due to their machine breaking down), where I then had to go pay again elsewhere anyway.
On one occasion, they failed to send my bloodwork request to my secondary provider, and when I called to have them send it over, they wanted to charge me $5 for it (which I had never had to do in the past). While the sum was doable and small, I refused. They ended up sending the documents anyway, after an argument, but the staff was rude the entire conversation.

All in all, while I appreciate the work they are trying to do, and the work of the providers themselves, the management and front office team clearly needs an overhaul, and at this point, I'm ready to find a different office for care. If they ever fix the front office issues (which include: rudeness, lack of access and proper communication, dishonest business practices regarding payments, and incompetence) I would be willing to return as a patient, but at this juncture, I cannot recommend anyone go to them for care.

Update November 2022
Apparently they spend all their time on reading reviews so I’ll leave this here. My husband has been trying to refill his heart medication for 2 weeks via Healow and many phone calls from him and his pharmacy with no response. You have though had the time to send us many many requests to fill out surveys and have someone call me for a no show fee for a televisit that no one started for me. I have now called 6 times in two weeks and dealt with rude secretaries who claim they can only hand you over to a voicemail that goes nowhere, left around 25 requests to refill the medication on Healow, and had the pharmacy send 4 requests for the refill. 🤞hopefully this medication isn’t that important to his health. Maybe the owner should start running things again?

i could write a whole book on the issues i've had as of recent but to sum up the issue its poor communication. i never had a issue in the past and used to love going here and felt like they cared for me more than just any other patient but i feel they lost that touch and after a while all they see you as is another bill unless you call them everyday and even then they give you attitude when you seem fustrated about a situation you been trying to get answers for. not to mention when i called back because i never got a call back from them the lady i spoke to was rude and snapped at me for no reason and didnt even let me explain my problem
