American Adoptions
Adoptive families like you deserve short, accurate wait times and financial protection that keeps your adoption budget safe. We’re the only agency that provides both. Your dream of starting a family can become a reality.
The adoption process is an amazing journey, and it starts right here. We believe you deserve complete support during your adoption from start to finish. That’s why we provide more comprehensive adoption services than other professionals — so that you can feel confident and secure in your adoption.
We look forward to meeting you and discussing your needs. There’s a lot that goes into adoption. If you’re thinking about this journey as a way to start or grow your family, you’ll need a lot of support along the way.
Most professionals specialize in one aspect of the process — they might provide home studies, marketing services, or casework support. The difference with American Adoptions is that we can do it all.
We want you to experience the most comprehensive support that puts you in the position to have a successful adoption process. Because of our large staff size, decades of adoption experience, and high adoption success rates, you can have the adoption experience you deserve.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Start by researching the state requirements for new parents. In Kansas, all foster parents must:
- Be 21 years or older
- Maintain financial stability
- Live in a safe and comfortable home
- Pass the home inspection
- Provide enough personal space for a foster child
- Clear a background check (all adults in the house)
- Have a valid driver's license and an insured vehicle
- Finish required foster parent training
- Complete the Home Study Process
Good foster parenting requires your best effort, but not "perfect" parenting. Spend time to learn about the foster care system and the information given to you during training and orientation. Once you have become a licensed foster parent, focus on your foster child's wants, needs, and overall well-being.
To learn more about becoming a foster parent in Kansas, contact your local child-placing agency. These social service agencies are state-approved to match foster children with licensed foster care homes.
Every foster agency provides orientation, where you will receive information about foster care and how to obtain a license. Orientation will help you decide if fostering a child is the right path for you and your family. If you are married or in a relationship, ask yourselves questions before committing to fostering together.
After orientation, your next step is the family assessment process, including the Home Study. A social worker at your local child-placing agency will help you through every step.

Words can not express how positive our experience with American Adoptions has been. They made what could have been so stressful and overwhelming to an incredibly positive and memorable experience. From the very beginning, with every step they simplified each part of the process and made it feel fun. We loved filming footage for our video and answering the questions for the birth moms.
It took us 8 months from the day I turned in our application to the day our healthy twin newborns were being placed in our arms. (and when we started we hadn't even begun home study) Once our home study paperwork was approved, we went active on a Tuesday and by the following Monday we received a call saying a birth mom had chosen us and that our babies were at a NICU waiting to go home!

The staff at American Adoptions are absolute professionals! Every person we worked with there was so responsive, kind, and detail-oriented. It's clear that they have a wonderful climate among the great people who work there, and they helped our dream of adoption come true. We couldn't be more impressed by them!

Working with American Adoptions was a great experience for my wife and I. Going through this whole process was very stressful and their staff were very welcoming and always there to comfort us and assure us that we would be parents before we know it. We adopted our son on April 8th of 2019 and he brings us so much joy and fun to our lives and we couldn't have done it without the help of American Adoptions. We also want to give thanks to the birth mom and father who selected us, they were so loving and we wish them the best. Thanks again!

My husband and I adopted in April 2019. From our first encounter with American, we knew it was the agency for us. Each person we worked with had the highest level of professionalism, knowledge, and care. Every question we ever had was answered to the fullest. They are a full service agency. From prospective adoptive parents to expectant mothers. Not only will you receive the highest service, but all expectant/birth mothers do as well. There is so much stress with adoption. So many things we worried about. It was so wonderful that we didn’t have to worry about the “paperwork” or legal aspects of our adoption, because we knew American had it covered. It was so reassuring throughout the entire process. We continue to work with American as we prepare to finalize our adoption. We are lucky to have them on our team. We cannot say enough good things about American Adoptions. We would recommend them 100x over again and would give them 10 stars if possible!

I am a birth mother and I have to say my experience with American adoptions was great. I was working with Brighid and she is wonderful she made sure I understood everything and made sure I was ok during the whole process and even after birth she asked if I was doing ok and if I needed anything. Even tho it's a hard decision and it's something hard to go thru she made sure I was doing ok and she would encourage me with the wonderful things she would tell me. Thank you Brighid and American for.
