Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

She preforms all services professionally, accurately and makes sure you clearly understand the process and procedures of adoption. We absolutely loved working with Connecting Hearts! They made the home study process easy, even during the pandemic. Ultimately, our match came through Amy and her connections. We completed our home study in May and our baby boy was born on 9/7. We can't thank Connecting Hearts enough for connecting us with the little boy that's made our hearts complete!

We made the right choice by picking Connecting Hears adoption ! After researching who to start working with we came across this company due to their great reviews. Starting with that first call followed by the home visit it all went smoothly with the help of Amy. She advised on who to work with saving us time and tons of headaches. We started our process and in 4 months got matched with a beautiful baby girl. I think that if you are hoping to grow your family through adoption starting with this company is a must . I wish we could rate you higher than 5 stars.

Amy is amazing! She is efficient and fights for you. She is so quick to respond to emails and calls. She is also well known throughout the adoption community for her thorough and high quality work. We have been with Amy for 2 years and over those 2 years she’s always gone over and beyond.
