Adoption by Shepherd Care

I chose Adoption by Shepherd Care for my international adoption needs because they were on the USCIS (US immigration) website as a Hague approved agency. In fact, they were one of the first agencies to be approved. We called for an appointment and they worked with our schedules to get us in as quickly as possible since we had already identified a child for adoption. What I loved most is how personalized their service is – at no point in time did we ever feel like “just a number”. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a warm and inviting environment that felt so much like home.

We worked with Rose for our initial consultation and she calmed our fears, but was also frank with us regarding the paperwork, timelines, cost and potential hurdles we would have to face with adopting from Jamaica. She reassured us that they would be with us every step of the way and ultimately this is the reason why we chose to go with Shepherd’s Care – they made us feel like family.

We then met with Marcy to do our home study and she immediately put us at ease. As foster parents, we were well aware of the mountain of paperwork that would be required and Marcy graciously went through each document to let us know exactly what we needed to provide. She responded to our questions quickly and provided clarification throughout the whole process. Her demeanor was so welcoming and friendly that going through the interview process felt like we were talking with a close friend.

Nidia, Claudia and Heidi took over the reigns to close out the process and worked diligently with the local government agency in charge of adoptions in Jamaica, as well as the US Embassy there, to ensure that whatever they required was provided. They even visited Jamaica to speak with the head of agencies and several children’s homes to better understand the process and the local requirements and to see how they could provide better service to help expedite the process in the future.

Heidi did our post placement visits and each encounter was such a treat! Our son loves her and she made us feel so comfortable.

This experience with ASC has been exceptional from start to finish (approximately a year and 7 months from homestudy through finalization of adoption).

They have all truly gone above and beyond to ensure that we have our forever family and periodically check in with us to make sure that everything is (still) going well. They feel like a part of our family as much as we feel like a part of theirs. They have promptly responded to all phone calls, emails and requests for documentation and have truly made this whole process so much more manageable. Thank you for your exceptional service!

We have been in touch with Claudia and never seen someone so comitted to her job. She puts her heart on what she is doing and I can see how committed she is. Her enthusiasm and knowledge brings you so much confidence on what they do. We will continue to support them and we pray for the good labor they do.

We had a really really good experience with Adoption by Shepherd Care! We expected the process would be long and heartbreaking but it wasn’t. Heidi made us feel comfortable every step of the way. She kept in contact with us and we never felt ignored. What was even more important to us was how well the agency treated our sons birth mother. They treated her with respect and dignity and she had the counseling and support SHE needed through this process. Our son is AMAZING and has made our family complete!
