Adoption by Shepherd Care (ASC) was founded in 1980 and is currently the oldest Florida-based international & Domestic adoption agency assisting Expectant Parents facing unplanned pregnancies, Orphans in need of a Forever Family and Prospective Adoptive Families desiring to become parents through adoption.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Adoption by Shepherd Care could not have made us any happier. From the very beginning of our journey, we were very pleased with the quality of this agency. We were able to speak to our coordinator at any time, and she was so helpful making a very stressful process manageable for us. We have a beautiful little girl who means the world us because of the caring staff and birth councillors. Our birthmother was incredibly well taken care of, and we had wonderful Skype and Phone conversations with her councillor. It was an experience that I believe all of our in our forever family appreciated and treasure, and so will our little girl! Thank you for the best adoption journey we could have asked for!!
