Adoption by Shepherd Care (ASC) was founded in 1980 and is currently the oldest Florida-based international & Domestic adoption agency assisting Expectant Parents facing unplanned pregnancies, Orphans in need of a Forever Family and Prospective Adoptive Families desiring to become parents through adoption.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Nidia and all the staff at adoption by Shepherd care are amazing! It has been a very overwhelming process however Nidia has stepped me through the entire process and is simply amazing! I highly recommend adoption by Shepherd care weather you're wanting to adopt or you're pregnant and wanting your child to go to the best home and parents possible!

ALERT!!! DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!
If you are a same sex couple or a single gay person looking to adopt, DO NOT call this Agency. They did not return our call nor they provide us with any assistance because we are GAY! This is completely unacceptable in today's society. Clearly this Agency is NOT looking out for the benefit of a child, instead, they are looking for their own benefit. They are neglecting a child to be in a warm and healthy environment with a same sex couple due to their personal beliefs. We do NOT recommend this agency to anyone.

We adopted our son through ASC 5 years ago. After a very challenging experience with a different agency and different program, we heard about ASC. From our first conversation with ASC staff members, we were sure this would be the right fit for us. All through our process we felt so supported and cared for. We know that ASC has many clients and yet once we were matched we felt like we were their top priority. We felt like they took exceptional care of both us and our son's birthmother. We have spoken to many other ASC families who all felt the same way.
The day our son was placed in our arms was the best day of our lives. He is an incredible kid and fills our days with love and laughter. When we decided it was time for our son to have a little brother or sister, we did not have to agonize for a second about which agency to contact. We knew we wanted to work with ASC once again, and are happily waiting for that incredible day when we will find out who our next sweet little one will be! Thank you ASC for all that you do, and for the special care you take of both birthmothers and of adoptive families. I HIGHLY recommend this agency.

We adopted with ASC in 2013-14. I cannot say enough good things about the agency who journeyed our adoption with us; through a fall-through and successful match I felt that we were their top priority.
Of utmost importance to us was an agency that worked ethically and put the birthmother first; I felt that ASC accomplished both of these. Our son's birthmother was treated with complete dignity and respect, as were we. Adoption involves hard decisions and emotions and we felt that ASC guided us through these times in a professional yet caring manner.
Although we didn't hear lots from the agency while we were waiting, after we were matched it seemed like we had their complete attention. If you feel like you're not hearing from them, it's likely because they are working on matching you with the babe you are meant to adopt.
If you are contemplating adoption or placing your baby, I highly highly recommend choosing ASC.
