The Adoption Authority
The Adoption Authority, Inc. was founded in 2007, by a former foster youth. While working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Founder worked with clients who were victims of unethical, coercive, and predatory adoption practices. Due to her personal experiences, our Founder felt strongly that there had to be a better way to provide ethical adoption services. The original vision paved the way to Adoption Authority’s unique model of practice, which relies on evidence-based research, elevates the lived experiences of the individuals we serve, seeks solutions, and focuses on the need for stable healthy family systems.
Adoption Authority’s Mission is to promote stability by providing counseling, education and assistance to women, children and families.
We acknowledge the vulnerability of parents in crisis, and we are dedicated to providing compassion, respect, and loving care to each individual on their unique journey.
Adoption Authority is thrilled to announce we have strategically aligned with Advocates for Children and Families (ACF), another non-profit licensed child placing agency. The Board of Directors and Staff of Adoption Authority and ACF are actively working towards merging both agencies. We invite you to view our Press Release regarding this exciting new partnership.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

As a birth mom you can imagine the fear and uncertainty with choosing any organization. Not only did I want to make sure my child went to a good home after birth but also that I received the best assistance during my pregnancy to achieve that goal. I found this wonderful agency through a friend of mine who was also a birth mom. Despite her many informative positive opinions, I wanted to form my own opinions so I did some research prior to reaching out to Adoption Authority. In an effort to learn more I decided to give the agency a call. That single phone call with a representative restored my faith and confidence in getting through this situation and solidified my choice in the organization. From there I consulted with a case manager and the Director to establish the best course of action tailored to my needs. They not only provide assistance finding hospitals and other resources, they also accompanied me to appointments and meetings at my request. Personally having someone there through this entire process was more comforting than I think they even realize. My case manager made herself available 24/7 both by telephone and in person when I needed it. Ultimately I was able to find my child a safe, secure home through this agency. Without them this process would have been a lot more lonely, stressful, and potentially heart-breaking. I can truly reflect on my experience with this agency as a good one and I would recommend them to other mothers looking for adoption assistance!

Our experience with The Adoption Authority was exceptional. This was our second adoption but the first with Adoption Authority and everyone involved was so caring and professional. They walked us through every step and definitely made sure that the lines of communication were always open. They always treated us and the birth mother with respect and compassion. They were good stewards with the finances and we so appreciate all that they did for us during this process. Highly recommend this agency!

I began working with Adoption Authority the end of November 2016, was matched on February 2nd and was holding my beautiful baby girl in my arms on February 22nd. I'm convinced these ladies are sent directly from God. Words can not express how awesome they all are. My experience was nothing short of amazing! Hillary, Linda, Katy and Radiah there is a reason you all are here. I highly recommend Adoption Authority to anyone interested in adoption. (Bonus: I was matched with the most amazing birthmom I could ever dream of) I love you all and I'm forever grateful for making my dream of becoming a mother come true! ♥️

We have been blessed to work with The Adoption Authority twice as we build our family. The most important thing to our family in choosing in an adoption agency was strong ethics which is a cornerstone of The Adoption Authority. The compassion and support for expectant and birth families is genuine and real. Support does not end at placement for birth or adoptive families. Our family would not be the same had we not crossed paths with The Adoption Authority and we cannot imagine any other path for our family!

My wife and I adopted our son with Adoption Authority in October of 2016. Adoption Authority was amazing from beginning to end. They are committed to making sure the birth mothers are treated with respect and well taken care of. As far as perspective parents, Adoption Authority has years of experience and can answer any questions and settle any nerves you might have. We used several different agencies and Adoption Authority was the best hands down
