The Adoption Authority
The Adoption Authority, Inc. was founded in 2007, by a former foster youth. While working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Founder worked with clients who were victims of unethical, coercive, and predatory adoption practices. Due to her personal experiences, our Founder felt strongly that there had to be a better way to provide ethical adoption services. The original vision paved the way to Adoption Authority’s unique model of practice, which relies on evidence-based research, elevates the lived experiences of the individuals we serve, seeks solutions, and focuses on the need for stable healthy family systems.
Adoption Authority’s Mission is to promote stability by providing counseling, education and assistance to women, children and families.
We acknowledge the vulnerability of parents in crisis, and we are dedicated to providing compassion, respect, and loving care to each individual on their unique journey.
Adoption Authority is thrilled to announce we have strategically aligned with Advocates for Children and Families (ACF), another non-profit licensed child placing agency. The Board of Directors and Staff of Adoption Authority and ACF are actively working towards merging both agencies. We invite you to view our Press Release regarding this exciting new partnership.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

My experience with this agency was completely top notch! They are in it for the right reasons! They work hard! Truly leaving family events and functions to make sure birthmothers, babies, adoptive parents are all taken care of. While visiting NICU for weeks, I truly saw how these girls work 24/7 and 365 days a week. I would definitely recommend Adoption Authority!

The staff here is professional, compassionate, and kind. Whether choosing adoption for your baby or navigating the process seeking to expand your family, I can’t imagine a better organization to work with.

This agency is top notch. Their isn't a local agency I trust more who has the birthmothers best interest in mind. As my family hopes to grow through adoption we have so much trust and confidence that this group is truly giving these amazing woman all the support they need. Specifically Hillary and Linda have been incredible to work with. They are kind hearted and very transparent. We are grateful to have connected with them.

I love the adoption authority they are the most loving patient caring group of women that i know...they made my whole adoption go smoothly and very comfortable..they listened to what i wanted and let me choose how i wanted things to be for my daughter....If i had to do it all over again they definitely would be my first choice....
