The Adoption Authority, Inc. was founded in 2007, by a former foster youth. While working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Founder worked with clients who were victims of unethical, coercive, and predatory adoption practices. Due to her personal experiences, our Founder felt strongly that there had to be a better way to provide ethical adoption services. The original vision paved the way to Adoption Authority’s unique model of practice, which relies on evidence-based research, elevates the lived experiences of the individuals we serve, seeks solutions, and focuses on the need for stable healthy family systems.
Adoption Authority’s Mission is to promote stability by providing counseling, education and assistance to women, children and families.
We acknowledge the vulnerability of parents in crisis, and we are dedicated to providing compassion, respect, and loving care to each individual on their unique journey.
Adoption Authority is thrilled to announce we have strategically aligned with Advocates for Children and Families (ACF), another non-profit licensed child placing agency. Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Our experience at Adoption Authority was just amazing everyone there is just so sweet kind, they love what they do have big hearts always have huge smiles on their faces, we would use them again when the opportunity presents it self again for adoption.

I recently had a situation with an adoption placement need. Hilary immediately stepped in and provided much needed assistance. I work with many professionals in the adoption field and can easily say that working with her has been a phenomenal experience. She is sweet, kind, compassionate and has excellent follow through.

This review is months overdue! We wish we would have written this long ago. The Adoption Authority was an answer to our prayers. We sought Adoption Authority out for our second adoption placement. We have experience with two other agencies as well. Although we liked the other agencies we worked with, Adoption Authority was exceptional and professional upon our first impression. We were adamant that we wanted to work with an agency that cared first and foremost for the well being and the decisions of the birth mother/family. Making sure this was her/their decision. They also looked out for us, the adoptive family. We believe the Adoption Authority's mission is beautiful and the women behind it are full of compassion. We saw Adoption Authority take care of the birth mother of our child, and kept her desires as their first priority, while at the same time guiding us through the entirety of the adoption process. We highly recommend the Adoption Authority to both birth mothers seeking options in adoption, and for prospective adoptive families. Our lives will forever be changed for the greater because of a loving birth mother who chose to gift us with the life of her child, and for the work of Adoption Authority that facilitated this adoption with professionalism and compassion.
