Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Destiny is attempting to adopt a child out knowing the father is fighting for his rights and obviously wants his son and can provide for him... they are stealing money from the hopeful adoptive parents and breaking their hearts as they continue bonding with a child they will not be able to keep. Florida law is clear and this father has met all requirements to keep and raise his son. Bio mom manipulated and lied to cause this ordeal because she wanted the money. Proof of bio moms intentions to do whatever it took to get paid for the child and take the child from the father was provided to the agency in the courts and they still show no compassion for a father who loves and wants his son! They are still dragging this out...
Beware.

Destiny Adoption is nothing short of amazing. If you are looking to adopt, we highly recommend them. Our journey with Destiny began in June and we took our adorable little girl home last week. We worked with Robyn and loved it. She was real, honest, patient, gave great advice and was our biggest fan and advocate. When they say they are "always open," we found that to be true. They are always there for you no matter day or time. Although our journey was relatively short, we think of the Destiny team as family and look forward to our continued friendship and guidance.

We used Destiny Adoption Services to adopt our two children and we would highly recommend them. They are professional, caring and an outstanding agency. We were working with a different agency before working with them and let’s just say that we were blessed to have come across them. Don’t look any further whether you’re a birth parent or are looking to adopt they are the people that will help you the same way they helped us. Give them a call and get more information you will be forever grateful you did.

My husband and I used Destiny Adoption to adopt our daughter. Before we even started the process, Lisa was very transparent about the costs and risks. Lisa and her team supported and advised us throughout the process in a professional and caring manner. We highly recommend Destiny Adoption and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Unfortunately we've worked with several agencies within and out of the state of FL as my wife and I have tried to grow our family thru adoption. Out of all of them, our encounter with Destiny was easily the worst. They claim to have a dedicated adoptive family advocate working on your behalf, but it was like pulling teeth to get any sort of response from ours and we were even told it was unreasonable for us to expect an email reply within 24 hours! We were only matched for less than five weeks but still lost well into five figures as a result of our failed adoption with them - and $12.5K of that was agency fees which they refused to refund even partially, not birthmom expenses. This situation in particular both broke our hearts and crippled our financial ability to pursue legitimate adoption opportunities elsewhere. I can't caution you enough if you are reading this as a prospective adoptive family. Please beware.
