Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

We loved working with the team at Destiny. After having a failed match with another agency the girls at Destiny made this journey go so much easier and enjoyable. Robyn was amazing to work with, she helped us with our many questions and our worries and fears. Everyone at the office was so nice and so efficient with all the paperwork. Adoption is not an easy process for either party but the team at Destiny definitely made things a lot easier. 💗💗

We worked with the Destiny team for our son's adoption. The entire team was very professional and always helpful, organized, and responsive. After having worked with other groups that made us uneasy, we would highly recommend Destiny and will be giving them a call if we pursue another adoption.

We love Destiny Adoptions and we are so thankful we were able to work with them! From start to finish they helped us through each step in the adoption process. We worked with Robyn and Lisa and we cannot say enough great things about them. They were kind, patient, and thoughtful as we navigated our unique journey! They work hard for the adoptive families and the birth families. Thanks to Destiny we brought home a beautiful baby who completed our family in the best way possible. Destiny Adoptions is a blessing to our family and we would choose them over and over again.

We are very thankful for Destiny Adoption services. Throughout our entire adoption experience, they have been professional, responded to us promptly and have been our son's cheerleaders even before we met him. So thankful for all the staff and their hard work ethics!
