Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Our experience with Destiny Adoption Services was simply fabulous right from the get go. The team consists of extremely knowledgeable, friendly, honest, empathetic, and reachable staff....all very necessary when navigating the adoption path. We're incredibly grateful that our journey led us to this agency along with our son's birth parents. Best match and forever blessed!!!

We are so thankful for the entire team at Destiny. We walked through some very hard things and they held our hands and walked with us through the heart break. They were a huge support for both of the birth moms that we worked with and it meant the world to us that from their perspective they were loved, supported and felt comfortable with the team. We were thrilled to be able to match with them again and bring home our daughter last month. So thankful for all of their support and love along the way!

Destiny Adoption Services is an amazing company. We adopted a baby girl with them and they held our hand the entire way. The love they feel for the biological parents and the adoptive parents is felt in every interaction they have with both. They continually reassure and support you through the process. I highly recommend Destiny Adoption for anyone looking to adopt. All the ladies have become part of our and our baby's family.
