Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Destiny Adoption completed our family. We can't say enough about the love these women shower on every single life they touch. That's why we picked them. They stood by us through thick and thin and they show that same love and respect to our birth mom. Not only did we get and amazing baby boy, but we gained a birth family! Adoption is a unique process for each family and Destiny honors that!
Adoption is not an easy process. We had one placement that was disrupted. It was financially and emotionally devastating. But they grieved with us. Those ladies worked their butts off for our family. I will never forget the day that everything fell apart, but I also will never forget the day it all came together.

Destiny Adoptions came highly recommended. My first experience was so great, I used them again. I have also referred others to this agency. I was so impressed with Destiny, when I won an award at work that allowed me to select a non-profit to get money in my name, I selected Destiny.

I am a birth mother who placed my son Destiny. He has a Wonderful Family. Aimee Goddard is his adopted Mom. She is Great! I was very sick when I delivered my son, December 26, 2017. I am diabetic Type 2. So I was automatically High Risk. I started working at Denny's on December 16 and because I was new I had to work Christmas day. I went into labor at work. I walked entirely too much that day and wasn't allowed to take my breaks because we were slammed. When I went back to the Cactus Motel. The baby was not moving at all like he usually did when I laid down. I called Lisa to notify her, I called my sister Rebecca and she could tell that my breathing was labored. She told me to call Bayfront OB/GYN immediately. When I called they said call the ambulance. When I got to the hospital they thought that I had a pulmonary embolism or better known as a blood clot. I was in so much distress that I could not even lie down for them to do the MRI in the Emergency Department. The next thing I know I am being admitted to Bayfront Regular hospital. I could hardly breathe for over12 hours. The next afternoon I think it was Lisa came in because I had texted her on her cell to let her know where I was. She was talking to the doctor and my ICU nurse. They had to intubate me which was extremely uncomfortable. To my knowledge the baby's heart rate dropped and I was taken for an emergency caesarean. No one was there when I woke up except Lisa. My boyfriend showed up the next day. Destiny helped me place our son with a good Christian family, he is spoiled rotten by Aimee and Dave. We even moved to West Virginia where they live for a change of pace. Lisa is Great and so is Robyn. Destiny Adoptions made my second adoption so much easier to cope with. My options of an open and closed adoption were thoroughly explained to me and I feel like I am part of a Real Family.
