Adoption by Shepherd Care (ASC) was founded in 1980 and is currently the oldest Florida-based international & Domestic adoption agency assisting Expectant Parents facing unplanned pregnancies, Orphans in need of a Forever Family and Prospective Adoptive Families desiring to become parents through adoption.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

They were fantastic through the whole process! We felt cared for and respected and were very confident in their abilities. That was not the case with most other organizations we dealt with in the adoption process. But Adoption By Shepherd Care was a shining highlight in the whole journey for us. 10/10 - highly recommend!

We loved working with Adoption by Shepherd Care! We got our miracle daughter Lena. They navigated the relationship between us and the birth mother wonderfully and we’re there for us every step of the way!!

We have now adopted two infants through Adoption by Shepherd Care. We have only had positive experiences with them. They are very professional, experienced, friendly, responsive, and thorough. Their team is almost like family to us as they know so much about us and our family.
After already being in the adoption process for a couple of years and having had very challenging experiences and dead ends with other adoption agencies, finding Shepherd Care was a godsend. Shepherd Care was a 180 change for the good compared to our previous experience with other agencies: Shepherd care really wants to bring families together and support birth moms, helping all parties along the way. This was the same experience for the birth mother we worked with as well. Her previous adoption provider was unresponsive. Shepherds Care, on the other hand, became family to her from day one.
If we were to go for a third round, we absolutely will reach out to SC again. Every time we talk about our adoption experience with interested families, we make sure they know about SC and consider this agency for their own adoption journey.
