Laurel Heights Hospital
Our Foster Care program provides boys and girls ages 4–17 with emotional or behavioral difficulties an opportunity to live within the community in the naturally therapeutic environment of a family. Our foster parents are trained, supervised, and supported by the Laurel Heights Specialized Foster Care Treatment Team.
Family consultants work with the foster family, birth parents, case managers, and the child to ensure that therapeutic, academic, social, and medical needs are met. Family consultants also provide 24-hour on-call support and work closely with case managers and birth families to support family reunification goals.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. Whether you have years of parenting experience or are relatively new to the idea, they have many support options for families. You can find plenty of information on the DHS/DFCS website or call them for more assistance.
Your local licensed child placement agency also places children in the foster system with carefully matched parents. Although foster care is temporary, it's crucial to find the right fit. That's why parents get a say in age range and gender.
There are also many state support groups for foster families that provide educational resources, services, and more. Connecting with these organizations and adding to your personal support network will be invaluable.
One of the best ways to become a better parent, whether you plan on fostering a child short-term or adopting, is to read as much as you can about Georgia's foster system. For instance, recently proposed bills would help to streamline parts of the state's foster care placement system.
You can find plenty of information available online for free as well. Blogs, podcasts, and videos are all incredibly useful ways to obtain new information about fostering.

I called inquiring about inpatient care and who ever answered took my information and advised of a call back right after but they never called back. Horrible customer service. It makes me wonder but that’s enough of confirmation to not even consider this hospital..

The Government needs to close this place down. That evil Dr. Sewell is giving these kids meds that arm them. If you love your children, do not send them to Laurel heights.

This place absolutely sucked, for one I wasn't treated properly. I was only treated for my depression and nothing else; I told the staff about how the medicine made me sick and they still forced me to take it. The staff yells at kids and triggers them on purpose. I was accused of faking tics and my anxiety not to mention one of the staff documented me for aggression when this one girl started yelling at me. Showers are nasty, food nasty, everything nasty.
