The largest Georgia-based, Christ-centered child-placing agency. We provide foster care & adoption services.

With roughly 1,600 children waiting for adoptive homes each year and more than 11,000 children in foster care in Georgia, we believe the answer to this crisis is the church.

We partner with local churches to help raise and license adoptive, foster, and respite families. A Christ-centered foster care and adoptive ministry allows churches to care for vulnerable children and their families and provides a way to support foster and adoptive families.

More than 60 million evangelical Christians are participating in over 300,000 churches nationwide. This provides an incredible opportunity to engage in foster care and adoption. With its existing infrastructure and caring congregants, each local church and its community of believers can be the solution to the local foster care problem.

Requirements to become a foster parent

The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. Whether you have years of parenting experience or are relatively new to the idea, they have many support options for families. You can find plenty of information on the DHS/DFCS website or call them for more assistance.

Your local licensed child placement agency also places children in the foster system with carefully matched parents. Although foster care is temporary, it's crucial to find the right fit. That's why parents get a say in age range and gender.

There are also many state support groups for foster families that provide educational resources, services, and more. Connecting with these organizations and adding to your personal support network will be invaluable.

One of the best ways to become a better parent, whether you plan on fostering a child short-term or adopting, is to read as much as you can about Georgia's foster system. For instance, recently proposed bills would help to streamline parts of the state's foster care placement system.

You can find plenty of information available online for free as well. Blogs, podcasts, and videos are all incredibly useful ways to obtain new information about fostering.

We have been a Faithbridge family for 10 years as a respite family our first few years and as a foster family for the majority of our time. As a respite family, we were able to see how diligently FB works to make sure their foster families feel supported and loved. It was an honor to walk along side FB to support and encourage these families. As a foster family, we have benefited from respite, but most importantly, we have been prayed over and encouraged as believers while navigating a heart breaking system. We still communicate with DFCS and other facets of foster care, but our FB consultant is always a phone call away. We have had many different caseworkers over the years, but always felt supported. They would answer questions or find the answers for us. They have invested in our family and in the children who have been in and out of our home. Most recently, our foster child was in the hospital and he received a handful of Smilegrams of encouragement and prayers for the staff at FB. Many never even had met him or us.

From a logistics standpoint, FB makes sure we are always in compliance with the State and meeting training and paperwork deadlines.

This is a faith based organization. We chose this organization with that in mind. It might not be the right fit for your family, but for those who are looking for an organization to surround you in prayer, also while helping you navigate the foster care system and processes, this is the place.

We have enjoyed the trainings that have been made available to us by FB over the years. Through covid and having medically fragile placements, there have been trainings available to us ever step of the way that help us reach the mandated requirements but also allow us to add to our mental toolbox as foster parents. We will never be finished learning and improving as foster parents and the resources made available to us through FB make it easier to do so.

There's a reason we have not left FB after 10 years. I'm not sure how we could do it without a team with the knowledge and experience in foster care or a team that prays, cries and celebrates with us as believers.

I did not have a great experience with this organization. After 3 years of going back and forth with this organization I told the truth: My family does not attend church every Sunday but we’re good people who truly care about children. After investing so much time and money in this we were told that we were not eligible with Faithbridge and they would send everything except our fingerprints that we paid for, for our entire family to the state. I will never deal with these fake holy people again….

Faithbridge Foster Care is a great organization for those looking to get involved with foster care. They offer an additional layer of support to foster parents, and truly help foster families grasp the purpose and goal of foster care- reunification with family. The fostering journey can be a wild ride, and we are so grateful to have had Faithbridge in our corner.
