Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

I can't say enough great things about Heart of Adoptions. My husband and I were fortunate enough to adopt two beautiful children through their agency. Everyone on staff is professional, well-informed, and ethical.
The adoption process is filled with high and low moments, and this agency is well-equipped to help families through each step. I have to give special praise to Erin, Meredith, Natalie, and Gabby - they are amazing people who really care.

Heart of Adoption was recommended to us by our friends who had also adopted in Florida. They had nothing but good things to say about HOA and they were right. Everyone at Heart of Adoptions was amazing, especially our case worker Reena. We live in Massachusetts and got matched with a expectant mother in Tampa. Our agency in Mass worked with HOA who did all the case work in Florida and we could not have been happier. Reena was in contact with us the whole time answering our questions and guiding us through the process. She was so kind and helpful, it really put us at ease. Any time we needed her, she was there to help. We feel so lucky to have worked with such a caring caseworker and agency. We even got to go to the annual agency picnic while we were in Florida and meet other families who had adopted recently. We would highly recommend Heart of Adoptions to anyone looking to adopt.

This is one of the ONLY ADOPTION AGENCIES in Fla that allows same sex couples. Please seek this agency out. Reena, Mary,etc. etc are nothing but kind...

Heart of Adoptions is not a professional setting for anyone to go to they will swindle and duress you at any means nessary. Don't trust them they love to get you at your weakest peak and constantly change the contacts never speak without a lawyer present. Ask to take their documents home and look over them because they will not let you look over the documentrs nor ask questions about the circumstance of you starting to change your mind if pregnant think twice because after the birth they will wait until you are drugged to sign new paper work. learn your rights of adoption for self before contacting them or you will be in court. P.s always have a witness of your own with you they have a team of atturoneys to klie for them and staff.
