Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Recently we adopted through Heart of Adoption (HOA). After spending a year researching and interviewing various adoption agencies nationwide we felt that HOA was a good match for us. We liked that the adoptions take place within the state of Florida. In addition to the staff being friendly, knowledgeable, and ethical.
HOA was one of the few agencies that show all of their estimated fees upfront and there were no hidden surprises. We liked that the agency also provide well thought out plans for both women choosing an adoption plan and families looking to adopt.
Their fees include creating an adoption profile book with professional help through parent finder, financial coaching, and child connect for maintaining a semi open adoption.
We are happy to say that the whole adoption process was smooth thanks to the agency being organized and keeping us updated regularly. Our wait time was reasonable and we remained within budget.
We highly recommend Heart of Adoption and will use them again for any future adoptions.

Our experience with HoA handling our lengthy contested adoption was great. Every employee was helpful and caring, especially Erin, Sue, and Rob. These wonderful people handled our situation for almost three years and never let us get downhearted or stressed, even in the most trying times.

I wasn't so pleased with my exspirence with this facility. The employees aren't nice at all. And they cheated me out of a lot of my budgeting only because I was in a rehabilitation facility at the time when I had my daughter. I'm sorry but I had to speak the truth .they did do some things right. But not at all special.

They did a fake adoption. They told me if someone is forcing u to sign over ur rights against ur will it is not valid. I told them that some was forcing me against my will and they did not care and they told the judge I did it of my free will. I'm going tu si them for lieing I did not what to give my son up.
