When we started our adoption journey 4 years ago, we were so nervous. As a same sex couple, we wanted to make sure that we had an advocate for our family. I remember preparing for Amy’s visit and being absolutely terrified. The house could not have been more spotless and clean. Amy joked of this often. It was like no one lived there. The post placement visits were not as spotless but I tried. She said “at least it looks like someone lives here”. I was calmed by her jokes. As a new mom you’re already a hot mess; but an adoptive new mom wants her house even more spotless for the woman who’s going to judge if she’s a great mom, is a hotter mess, am I right? No, not Amy. No judgment, no crazy, just a calm. Then you get to show off your perfect baby! I digress. All the adoption jitters quickly dissipated after about 5 minutes of meeting her. I was shocked at how down-to-earth and real this woman was and how much I adored her. Amy’s spirit is so calming and welcoming. You know instantly that she has your family’s best interest at heart and will guide you through the process smoothly and lovingly. We did not have an easy journey to parenthood; but we knew we had a rockstar social worker behind us cheering with us in the good and crying with us during the bad. I recommend her at every chance I get; because she is an integral part of our story and I believe she is the right person for the task for anyone in central Florida. Particularly for the LGBTQ community, this is your advocate for parenthood. No need to look any further. She’s helped gays, lesbians and trans people across Central Florida that I know personally. There is no one more genuine than Amy Imber.

When we started this crazy journey to adopt our daughter we didn't know where to begin. It's been a long journey but Amy has went above and beyond to make it as painless as possible, as we've had quite the journey. I haven't gotten a chance to meet the rest of the team and have only worked directly with Amy. She truly has a heart of gold and wants what is best not only for our baby girl but for our entire family.
