An award-winning Colorado foster care agency providing training and support for families in Colorado Springs and across the state.Hope & Home started with a few concerned members of a church Sunday school group who saw foster kids being treated like second-class citizens, or worse, and decided to do something about it.

Today, we’ve turned foster care upside down and have emerged as one of the largest, most dynamic child placement agencies (CPAs) in the state of Colorado — with hundreds of children rescued from the foster care system and happily adopted. Each year we provide short- and long-term, in-family care to hundreds of children in crisis.
Along the way, we’ve created a program where children in foster care are nurtured and truly cared for, and where the foster parents who give these children a home can do so with a level of friendly, professional support not found anywhere else.
Our strength comes from our Christian commitment to children, from our large and highly invested community of donors and supporters, and from our pledge to only accept first-rate foster parents who believe, as we do, that no child should ever feel less than loved.

Requirements to become a foster parent

You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Maintain sufficient income to support a family
  • Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
  • Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
  • Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
  • Complete a Home Study

Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.

Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

Hope & Home truly cares about everyone involved in the foster care process - both the foster children and the foster families. This is an organization that is 100% committed to supporting foster parents through initial training AND ongoing monthly education which, in turn, benefits the children. If you are looking to partner with an agency whose foundation is built on principles such as love, connection, service, grace... Hope & Home is the absolute right fit!

Hope & Home is an amazing fostering agency! If we had to do it all over again we would still use Hope & Home as our fostering agency. They provide you with training and the support groups that we attended monthly were very supportive. Hope & Home is a Christian based agency which is one of the big factors of us going with them. We went into fostering with the end goal of adopting a child, but God blessed us with adopting two children. The experience for us from fostering to adopting was great for our family!

My experience with Hope and Home has been absolutely positive. The support groups are vital to the health of a foster parent, and they work hard to make sure your certification stays current, and they are your best advocates in a system where no one else is.
