If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy, you are not alone. We are here to answer your questions and provide support while you explore making an adoption plan for your baby. And because we’re a local adoption agency in Austin, we can help you connect with trusted resources and potential adoptive families in our area.

Adoption Advocates’ Board of Directors established the Vision of Hope Fund to assist birth mothers in need. There are many requests for services and financial assistance we cannot meet under licensing standards. These requests can be met through donations to the Vision of Hope Fund.

During the past years, we have assisted birth mothers with the following: rent for a birth mother who lost her job, GED class expenses, college tuition and books, Christmas presents for birth mothers and their children, transportation costs to attend adoption finalization, and post-adoption counseling regardless of date of placement.

The Vision of Hope Fund allows us to make a difference in the life of a birth mother who not only needs our financial assistance but also our emotional support. Your support in helping us with the needs of our birth mothers is appreciated more than you can imagine. Nonprofit adoption agency providing safe, ethical adoption services in Texas since 1991, with offices in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Adults who are new to the fostering process sometimes feel overwhelmed and wonder if they will have support on their journey. Your child-placing agency is the first resource. Social services caseworkers provide aspiring foster parents with various types of support and connections. These include free educational training programs, helplines, and support groups.

It is important that foster parents build their individual support network, too. Connecting with other foster families with more experience is an excellent place to begin. Texas groups offer foster parent meetups; you can search online for the closest one.

The Texas Foster Family Association provides state training, a regional directory of support services, a summer training conference, and more. Membership benefits include getting access to foster care professionals and learning more about ways to become better caregivers. Children of TFFA members can also get assistance through the Scholarship Fund.

Austin Angels is another support organization that strives to assist foster parents and Texas foster children. They offer care packages and gifts for foster children and their caregivers, mentorship options, and education, among other resources. Foster children and teens can learn valuable skills that help prepare them for independent living, as well.

I am a social worker myself, so I have searched diligently for an agency who upholds the highest standards of ethics and care. Adoption is inherently a process fraught with trauma, grief, and ethical concerns- Rory and the team at Adoption Advocates navigate these waters with such compassion, respect, integrity, and genuine care for everyone involved. I have worked with other agencies alongside my time with Adoption Advocates, and it only serves to highlight that in every interaction with Adoption Advocates I feel such a relief and safety knowing that I am being well taken care of, as are expectant mothers - no matter their choice. I trust them 100% to be managing this process to the highest standard of care. I have found that no other agency or adoption professionals have made me feel as safe and comfortable as the team at Adoption Advocates. They are truly serving pregnant women, the babies coming into this world, and hopeful adoptive parents. I can't say enough positive things about my experience here.

My husband and I adopted our son through AAI. We were foster parents and had a beautiful and also heartbreaking experience and decided to pursue private adoption to start our family. We researched and interviewed several groups, and then we met Rory and her down to earth, compassionate real talk instantly clicked with us. We took a training class before we committed to work with AAI, and not only was the class powerful and poignant, it was conducted at a heart level and extremely informative. We felt like we were finally home, which is important when you are trying to build a home. One week after acceptance into the program we were matched for a baby girl with a birthmom who was very very late in deciding on adoption, and was due in a few days. While she ultimately decided to parent, we were able to draw from the training Rory offered to be able to process the roller coaster quickly and well. Rory was very available to us and present to comfort as needed.

A very short three months later we received a call for a sudden hospital placement and within 24 hours, we became parents! And again, we drew from the training and knew we could say yes quickly and offer cradle care until we were able to have more information about our son’s background. To the untrained ear, honestly some of his background may sound alarming but we received counsel from a geneticist and were educated as to the impacts and non-factors of some of the elements of his story, which gave us important confidence.

I sit here writing this review with the sweetest, healthiest, handsomest baby boy laying on my shoulder sleeping so peacefully and my heart is so full. He is truly the light of our lives.

We were lucky, not every story is so simple, but whatever leap(s) of faith you have to take to reach your parenting goals, AAI is a safe place to take them.

Adoption Advocates helped us to adopt our daughter. We had not heard much about open adoption, and they had a training to teach us about it, including an expert they brought in from out of state, adoptive parents, and birth parents. Once a birth mom chose us, they helped us to work through the new relationship, not just at the beginning but through the birth process and even now. We worked through many issues of doubt about whether the birth mom ultimately would place with us, and they helped us by connecting us with other adoptive parents who had dealt with similar situations. In the end, we will always be grateful to our daughter’s birth mother and to Adoption Advocates because our daughter is the center of our world and without them we wouldn’t have her.

We worked with AAI in 2016. We can’t speak highly enough about our experience with them and we have recommended them to anyone who asks. There were a couple of major factors important to us when we were picking an agency, most importantly was how does the agency treat the potential birth parents. AAI provides many services for potential birth parents, including counseling. By providing this support, birth parents can truly determine if adoption is the right choice for them. During the adoption process, many tough conversations take place. AAI made us feel very comfortable and not judged during these times. Finally, I want to add that AAI is VERY communicative. You are never wondering what is going on, or what is going to happen next. They have continued to be a source of support for us and our daughter’s birth parents over the years and we are so grateful they have become a part of our lives.
