Requirements to become a foster parent

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) provides foster care support, such as connecting parents to hotlines and listing information about the licensure process. Besides the State Department of Human Resources, many private agencies in Oklahoma are dedicated to helping foster children and the parents that care for them.

The Oklahoma Family Network (OFN) helps children with special healthcare needs. OFN can connect parents with appropriate resources and training. Their Resource Directory lists organizations and professionals by topics, such as food assistance or disability services, so you can easily find help in your area.

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is part of the Children’s Health Act. You can learn more about child trauma and trauma-informed care. There are also informational materials and training available through the NCTSN.

Additionally, private adoption agencies offer programs and support for any parent interested in fostering to adopt.

Amazing place, wonderful people. CPO truly cares and has phenomenal services available to women who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Weekly support group, scholarships, counseling and financial assistance are just a few of the services provided. It is entirely run by volunteers, who are genuine, caring, and not at all judgmental. I love CPO!!!

CPO is a place of true caring. The people here give of their hearts, their time and their compassion to help other people in their times of need. They are not paid to do this, rather want people to know that love is their end game. I have seen countless women go to Crisis Pregnancy Outreach and have their lives changed, and encouraged to become who God intended them to be. I've watched problems have solutions, failure become what changed lives for the better, and brokenness become whole. Guidance, live and family awaits you here!

We chose CPO as our agency because of their heart for their birth moms. They genuinely love and care for each of the moms who walk through the door, parenting or placing for adoption. They have support groups, counseling for life, and even have a transitional home, to provide a safe place for them to live while going through pregnancy and in some cases after, until they get on their feet. We are forever grateful for all they do.
