Requirements to become a foster parent
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) provides foster care support, such as connecting parents to hotlines and listing information about the licensure process. Besides the State Department of Human Resources, many private agencies in Oklahoma are dedicated to helping foster children and the parents that care for them.
The Oklahoma Family Network (OFN) helps children with special healthcare needs. OFN can connect parents with appropriate resources and training. Their Resource Directory lists organizations and professionals by topics, such as food assistance or disability services, so you can easily find help in your area.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is part of the Children’s Health Act. You can learn more about child trauma and trauma-informed care. There are also informational materials and training available through the NCTSN.
Additionally, private adoption agencies offer programs and support for any parent interested in fostering to adopt.

I would love to give zero stars if I could. Do NOT go here if you are parenting. They only care about your children and you if you are placing a child for adoption. They claim to want to help women. When I had my first son in 2015 they were amazing. Their parenting support group was run by Tracie Roesslein, her mother Cheryl started CPO. She was a single mother herself. This support group would let me vent, help with any advice I asked for as a first time mother, and was truly just a place I could come and be myself and know that I was not alone in this walk. Leadership has changed a couple times since and has just been worse each time. Half the leadership will gossip behind your back, yet claim to be Christian women, volunteering out of the kindness of their heart.

WOULD LOVE TO GIVE ZERO STARS. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach has majorly gone down hill since I started coming as a single mother in 2015. I was hoping after Kelly Jacobson stepped down it would get better but unfortunately not. If you are not placing your child then they do not care about you. They want you to come and brag about how much they helped you and get out before your child is a year old. The parenting support group was AMAZING. This group of women TRULY CARED. They did this as a ministry. They would help you if you’re having trouble breastfeeding, if you just need to come and vent about the hard week you are having, they will pray for you, pray with you, whatever they could do for you. Unfortunately in the last couple of years they only care about their “look” and how to get more money. I do not recommend Crisis Pregnancy Outreach and never will because of how they treat mothers who are parenting.

The volunteers are great.
I have placed twice with CPO. The first has ended up being real awful because they couldn’t handle the mood swings of a barley 18 year that just had a baby then went through the trauma of giving the baby up. Haven’t seen my child in 5 years. I was 100% blamed for how our relationship was going so I decided to have a semi closed adoption and only get pictures every 6 months which have NEVER but 1 time actually been on time. CPO does not prepare you (birthmom) for an adoption that could go side ways. They just tell you that it could happen but make it sound like it won’t.
My second adoption is amazing, we live 50mins apart and we FaceTime, send pictures and see each other often. I even got to throw one of his birthdays. I am thankful that CPO pays for all the therapy I need.
Would I take a chance on another family should a situation arise? Probably not.

We are so thankful for CPO! Summer was absolutely wonderful in assisting us in our adoption process. They have gone above and beyond for our daughters birth mother. Our daughter is 9 months old now. She is a happy and healthy baby and brings so much joy to our lives!
