Requirements to become a foster parent
You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.
Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.
Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.
Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. So tonight I was sitting here thinking back to 13 years ago when I was 16 and had been moved from HOTI (a group home in Louisville) to Ramey Estep ... back then I viewed Ramey Estep a horrible place to be but as I'm sitting here thinking back and I know now that the program there helped more in life than I ever could have imagined... its very hard to say where I would be today if I hadn't been sent there but honestly I know for a fact that I wouldn't be the productive member of society that I am today if it wasn't for Ramey Estep homes and I greatly appreciate and am thankful for all the staff there and for the things I learned over the course of my time in their program

This place messed many up I know. Including myself. I was so grateful to have aged out of it. The way some staff treated and talked to the kids was awful. I was one of the older ones in my group. I couldn't stand seeing them hurt the younger ones. They threatened to take my education from me as punishment taking up for some at one point. I walked in that place already damaged and left even more. Even years later I can't forget or even healed from what I seen and experienced there and other places. Don't send your babies there y'all. Always check the places out if your child has to be sent off. There is sick people out there that work at them. People who have no business working with kids period.
