We provide specialty foster care services for youth and families in the metro Atlanta region and the state of Georgia. Our services, which are uniquely focused on helping children, teens, and young adults with special medical, psychological, social, and emotional needs, provide youth with a family-based treatment alternative to more intensive levels of care.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. Whether you have years of parenting experience or are relatively new to the idea, they have many support options for families. You can find plenty of information on the DHS/DFCS website or call them for more assistance.
Your local licensed child placement agency also places children in the foster system with carefully matched parents. Although foster care is temporary, it's crucial to find the right fit. That's why parents get a say in age range and gender.
There are also many state support groups for foster families that provide educational resources, services, and more. Connecting with these organizations and adding to your personal support network will be invaluable.

I was a Client at Devereux years ago it helped me get through a tough time in my life. The staff were great at helping me out with a lot of things that I was going through. if they can help me I know that they can be a great help to you.

I was a former client. (Got out early this year) Staff are biased and side with the clients who are the loudest. Or "the coolest" I got my blue phase, but was treated unfairly by the staff while trying to live and get out. The staff on the particular unit that I was on treated me horrible for the most part. I have dreams of me coming back there, and the best I can describe them are nightmares. Devereux is not a "Safe place".

I was 11 years old from Baltimore MD with a bad temper and overweight with the help of the staff and my personal dad forever coach gains turned me into a young man who accept and can cope with the world they said I wouldn't live to see 15 I'm 37 wish I never left and will visit soon love you all
