Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

We recently brought home our baby boy thanks to Lifetime Adoption! We got a call on a Friday night that we needed to be at a hospital 20 minutes away the next day to pick him up. I have to say that my greatest takeaway from working with Lifetime is that you get out what you put in. If you are looking to sit back and have your adoption agency do all of the work for you and have a baby in your lap in a few days, this is not the agency for you. If you are willing to put in the work and help the agency in whatever way you can and have the patience to wait for your perfect match then 100% pick Lifetime. At times when I did not realize this, the journey was really hard, but after doing everything I could to work with the agency, we were matched in only 4 short months.

We have adopted twice through Lifetime and always recommend this facilitating agency to others. Both experiences were extremely positive and the supportive staff was caring and attentive. While they provide quality service to the adoptive parents, they are careful to include the birth family and keep the baby’s best interest at heart.
I would like to direct this review to our coordinator Tiffany who we had the pleasure to work with twice . She is amazing at what she does and we not only consider her a friend but a part of our family. She is highly familiar with how adoption works and will guide you through such a an already emotionally difficult process for your family and the birth parents. I would also like to highlight All of their staff is friendly and go above and beyond.
If you are seeking adoption, this should be your first phone call. If we decide to expand our family we will use Lifetime without Hesitation.

They are amazing! I did my adoption almost 3 years ago in June. I blessed my princess with the best family ever and they love my sweet pea as if they created her themselves. And here i am 3 years later about to bless yet another loving deserving family. Blessings!

Lifetime Adoption is an amazing organization! My wife and I have been so pleased with all of the staff. They are very professional, timely, and encouraging! From the moment we began our adoption process, they were readily available to help us on our journey. We never experienced a bad interaction with anyone on the Lifetime team. They genuinely care for birth families as well as adoptive families. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about adoption to choose Lifetime!
