Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Becky Taoka gave me the impression that she did not want to help me at all. She asked one question, which was how did I find the company. Um hello Becky, it called doing a Google search. After that, proceeded to tell me they can't help me. Thank you Becky Taoka, I wouldn't refer people to this place even if you paid me to do it. Horrible service and horrible experience. DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE.
Edit to the reply: you guys do realize that she didn't bother to ask me any questions regarding the characteristics or qualifications that would qualify me to adopt. The only question that She asked me was how I found the agency as if we live in a decade where nothing can be found by doing a simple search. Nothing referring to my qualifications and was rejected. I never knew asking how did I find the company was part of the qualifications processed.

First let Me Say this place is great the staff is great I referred to Lifetime Agency years ago too many specific details about my story too put in Google Review but just want thank Dianne idk if she still works there but she was wonderful too me try to help me a lot whoever read this if your birth mom who came to this point of deciding what’s adoption agency is best please reach out talk to this agency they are really genuine sincere caring people they will help you as much they able to if not they will refer you to who agency or guidance who will they will try there best that’s rare in this world!

Working with Lifetime Adoption has been a privilege! We easily and successfully adopted a sweet baby boy. The staff are warm, friendly, professional and always available. They provide tons of helpful resources to help educate your family on all stages and processes of the adoption experience. Your coordinators walk every step of the way with you and we appreciated their personal knowledge and assistance!

We are so thankful God led us to Lifetime Adoption! We were very new to the process of domestic adoption, as well as to the concept of open adoption, and the Lifetime team provided thorough explanations and helpful resources to support our decision making all along the way. We appreciated the variety of information and insight provided through the webinars. We also appreciated Lifetime’s approach to the time each family spends waiting for their child. The team does not downplay the pain of the moment; rather, they encourage families from the Word and provide a supportive network to lean on and learn from.
