Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities Gainesville provides services designed to help preserve and protect the life of the child, provide care for women and their children, and to assist in the building of families through adoption.
For more than 46 years, Catholic Charities Gainesville has served the local communities of Alachua, Bradford, Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy counties with charitable services. Our fundamental belief is that we have a responsibility to care for those in need by meeting basic human needs, restoring dignity, and assisting toward self-sufficiency.
By providing emergency financial assistance, food assistance, community outreach services, poverty reduction, and housing assistance, we are putting our beliefs into action to transform lives.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

I have never dealt with Catholic Charities before in my life and going there for the first time in explaining my situations with my bills they were able to not only help me with my utilities but help me with my restoring faith in humanity. I couldn't ask God for a better blessing then the one they delivered to me today and I really want to give a personal thank you as well not just to Catholic Charities but to Mrs.Andrea . She walked me through everything and helped me immediately. Thank you guys so much for all your help there's not enough words in this review but I hope you know how much it meant to me thank you.

I love this place. When my family falls on hard times this organization has always put forth the best efforts to help my family. The staff is never rude, they help you with open arms and hearts! I mostly need this place for food assistance but they have also helped me with utility assistance too. But seriously the people here really do care and it shows!
