American Kidz is a full-service adoption agency. We are licensed in the state of Florida as AmericanKidz Adoption Services, Inc. and in Georgia, as AmericanKidz of Georgia, Inc. AmericanKidz was the "brainchild" of founder Kathleen Calcutt in 2004. Kathleen and her husband Patrick Calcutt are both attorneys and partners in the law firm of Calcutt & Calcutt, P.A. Kathleen and Patrick are the parents of six children, including three adopted boys.
AmericanKidz provides legal and counseling services to coordinate the adoption of newborn infants, children in foster care, and children with special needs all over the United States. AmericanKidz also works with Americans stationed or working abroad. The staff of AmericanKidz has a special appreciation for the intricate and important details of the adoption process. It is our goal to provide you with the best service possible as we work with you to expand your family through adoption.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Sick and tired of stressing out about where I'm going to be when they say that they help with housing every time I find somewhere the attorney says that it is too much and she expects me to get something dirt cheap also went ahead and was trying to apply for section 8 housing and they told me it could take up to a year I shouldn't have to worry about where I'm going to go and get stressed out

I can honestly say without a doubt that I could not have imagined a better agency experience for our adoption! The team at American Kidz goes above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience for all members of the adoption triad. Janee' is an ANGEL, and she communicated with us almost daily throughout our match, sometimes even just to tell us that there wasn't any news to share. Everyone at AK ensured that we knew information as soon as it was available. Our precious birth mother has developed a wonderful relationship with Marina, the social worker, and Marina has been so wonderful to care for our BM and provide her so much love and support. Kathleen kept us updated and explained everything we needed to know on the legal side, and Joanie, the office manager, is so organized and helpful, as well! This team is truly so wonderful, and we are beyond grateful for them. I tell all of our friends working with our adoption consulting company that if you see a case from American Kidz, you say YES!! AK team, we cannot thank you enough!

Left me and my 37 week pregnant wife to walk in the rain and when we called they didn't answer she could have been in labor.... also during this covid 19 pandemic now my wife is sick

I could not recommend this agency enough. Sadly, before American Kidz, I have experience with many lawyers and many agencies, as I had multiple failed adoptions.
Three in the year previous to adopting successfully with American Kidz. The communication was fantastic, and very supportive. Because of my previous failed adoptions, I was a handful and needed a lot of reassurance. I also got to become quite close with the birth mom, through the process and saw that they took really good care of here too, which was important to me. I truly have the perfect daughter and I owe it all to Kathleen and her team.
