Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

From start to finish Ashley and Karen were amazing! I could have asked for more. They are the best! Answered all my questions, went above and beyond!

Adoption is hard and every journey is different. Our personal journey at times was heartbreaking. A Chosen Child did some things right and some things wrong. They are human and I am willing to give grace in that regards. In the end, we got the most beautiful child and have never been happier. The good: they were honest with us about our money and honest with our money. With the amount of stories you will hear about adoptive parents being scammed...this is SO important. They protected us as much as they possibly could in this regard. The not-so-good: sometimes their communication wasn't very good, throughout the whole process intermittently. However, if I got really irritated they would always respond and I could call the office at anytime.
Bottom line, if we adopt again we will use them. We had some rough patches but in the end, like a mom about her labor, those memories of pain subside and I'm left with a group of women that I would trust and I honestly feel like wanted nothing but the best for my family.

This agency should be shut down. They are cold hearted and do nothing but take your money. We lost 5,000 got our profile books returned by mail and had no communication from anyone except for when we reached out to them. Not sure what type of service they think they are providing except for nothing.

A Chosen Child is a heartless adoption agency that likes to confuse vulnerable birth moms and then refuse to let them out of their contract. They are fine with taking babies that have caregivers that love them and want them and then refuse to let them pay to keep their babies. Don't believe their website!!!!! They are all about the money and they couldn't care less about your pain!!!! Don't be fooled......
