Requirements to become a foster parent

Many do not realize the need for new resource families in California. The number of foster kids outnumber the foster families who can provide short or long-term care. Foster advocates work hard to find places for these children, but it is not easy.

The latest 2021 report from the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) report in California says there are:

  • 47,871 kids in California's foster care system
  • 22,892 who entered foster care
  • 15,386 foster kids awaiting adoption
  • California foster kids across all ages, with a median of 8 years
  • 33% whose foster child case plans include adoption

A child's median time in the California foster care system is over a year at 16.8 months. 13% spend 3-4 years in foster care.

California needs foster parents to take in multiple children if they have the time and energy to care for them. Sibling groups often need care, and it is essential to support these family bonds. In California, it is challenging to find homes for teenagers, though they need stable environments and reliable adults to support them.

This campus unfortunately looks more like a Parision then a school because the doors are completely locked. No access. All students have a badge that they take with them while being students from the campus. Unfortunately, I do not have one supposedly or security. This is very ridiculous. I won’t mention names for safety, but the person who assisted me after speaking to a higher range person was upset, saying she is the manager.
Hey, don’t have anyone’s phone number except for my instructor and one of the administrators other than that it’s a very bad headache while being in this campus

Please hire securities if that’s what the problem is in regards to safety, I believe securities will be effective and the campus will be much safer

Leadership at this institution is only worried about themselves and care nothing about the people they serve. This organization has really gone downhill significantly since I initially started as a consumer back in 98. I would recommend you stay away from participating in the programs, as many of their staff are incompetent and unprofessional individuals.

I used to live here at Wayfinder, but before it was called Junior Blind of America, I lost count of how many years I was here but I got to say it was pretty bad, I was bullied non-stop by a bunch of disrespectful nitwits. At the time being I made some friends there and they were the only ones that were there for me whenever I need it,
I used to know a few staff members before they quit their jobs, some were chill some weren't.

I made a review on Facebook saying that how bad this place is but I had to take it down because a certain administrator was mad at me and she didn't like the things I said. She made me cry, she scolds at me even more and not even cared how hurt I was. When I was first introduced to this place I asked if there is going to be any boys here and two people said no, but I was clearly lied to since they were never around to see, I should have stayed at the hospital. But it doesn't matter now that I'm free from their horrible lying clutches. We had residents AWOL from left to right and we all get punished. Honestly I couldn't even care of how many days I had happy times, this place that used to be called Juniorblind of America is still worthless and I never want to ever come back here! 😁

KRISTAL AUDOMA is the reason for my 1 star review. She was horrible, does not care about people. My child is doing worse now because of her so called “job” she should be unemployed.
