Greater Hope Foundation
Foster care is when a child is placed in a temporary, safe home in a time of crisis. Adult caregivers, commonly known as Foster Parents or Resource Parents, then become part of the child’s support system, providing them with the necessities of life and healing programs designed to help them process the trauma they have endured. Resource Parents work with the child’s social workers, teachers, and doctors, to proactively nurture, love, and advocate for their needs until they are reunified with their birth family or are adopted.
A Greater Hope actively searches for and approves families that are committed to helping children and can care for and nurture them without hesitation. Families in these positions must be ready to work towards the greater good of the children placed in their care.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many do not realize the need for new resource families in California. The number of foster kids outnumber the foster families who can provide short or long-term care. Foster advocates work hard to find places for these children, but it is not easy.
The latest 2021 report from the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) report in California says there are:
- 47,871 kids in California's foster care system
- 22,892 who entered foster care
- 15,386 foster kids awaiting adoption
- California foster kids across all ages, with a median of 8 years
- 33% whose foster child case plans include adoption
A child's median time in the California foster care system is over a year at 16.8 months. 13% spend 3-4 years in foster care.
California needs foster parents to take in multiple children if they have the time and energy to care for them. Sibling groups often need care, and it is essential to support these family bonds. In California, it is challenging to find homes for teenagers, though they need stable environments and reliable adults to support them.

An employee made a false statement.

I had a bad experience with this agency. They're not on the same page with the County workers. So, you get blame cuz they didn't let the country workers know.

Some of the hardest work individuals that I know. A Greater Hope offers so many wonderful services for children and families. Their goal is to keep children safe and help to reunite families. I have witnessed children either returning to their biological family because of the help they offer to the parents. I have also witnessed children getting adopted by loving individuals who really have the child"s best interests at heart. Whether you are a parent or adoptive parent, A Greater Hope provides the help you need to raise beautiful productive and happy children
