It’s giving a child a safe place to land during a hard, scary time when they’re away from home. And it’s showing compassion to a parent who is likely overwhelmed, scared, and without a lot of support.
It’s helping a child stay connected to the only home they’ve ever known, in whatever way it’s safe to do so, and cheering on a family that’s living out a comeback story.
At Bethany, our heart beats for family. We want to see families strong, supported, and together. But we know there are times when families face challenges—and children need care.

Requirements to become a foster parent
There are myths and misconceptions about what you need to qualify as a foster parent.
Foster parent requirements vary by state. Parents must be at least 21 years of age in Arkansas. However, there cannot be more than a 45-year age difference between the child and the parent.
Marriage is not a requirement for fostering. Single individuals may apply.
Every foster parent in Arkansas must:
- Pass a background check
- Have a physical exam
- Complete the Arkansas Home Study
- Complete required training classes
- Pass the home inspection
- Attend face-to-face interviews with a state foster advocate
- Maintain financial stability
In addition, foster homes must have enough room for the foster child. This includes 50 square feet of bedroom space for personal belongings.

We couldn’t be happier with choosing Bethany for our adoption agency.
Adoption can be a long and frustrating process. They were with us every step and when We were discouraged they were there to have a pick me up lunch, send us encouraging notes, and pray with us. When our baby came they were just as excited as we were and continue to be there when we need them. Highly recommend.

Our adoption experience with Bethany was wonderful! They helped us with absolutely everything along the way- answered ALL of our questions, provided adoption education, and supported us through every stage of the adoption of our son. They also provided support for our son’s birth parents which was very important to us. We couldn’t love the staff more! I would recommend them 10 times over and love sharing our sweet adoption story with others.

We adopted twins through Bethany Christian Services Little Rock in March 2017 and we had such a good experience. The staff at Bethany was so genuine, full of integrity, and communicated with us so well during the adoption process. I also appreciated how they did tell us honest, hard stuff too - they truly were trustworthy and upfront throughout the process. They are like family to us. We love supporting Bethany and feel we have a great ministry partner through them in the adoption world.

I can not say enough good things about this agency! My husband and I adopted our baby girl in 2017 and this agency went above and beyond to help us in every way we needed. We were blessed to meet multiple staff members in the Little Rock and northwest Arkansas location and everyone was as kind and supportive as they come. Each staff member we met seemed to have a unique gifting for their work and it made all the difference. It was refreshing to see the authentic love and passion they have for each family involved in adoption. Above all, we feel so blessed knowing that this agency gave this same love and support to our child’s birth momma.❤️

My husband and I were blessed to adopt through Bethany Christian Services. The staff are phenomenal. They will help you not only through the process of adoption but also provide support afterwards. We are so thankful for the great work Bethany Christian Services does.
