It’s giving a child a safe place to land during a hard, scary time when they’re away from home. And it’s showing compassion to a parent who is likely overwhelmed, scared, and without a lot of support.

At Bethany, our heart beats for family. We want to see families strong, supported, and together. But we know there are times when families face challenges—and children need care.

Requirements to become a foster parent
There are myths and misconceptions about what you need to qualify as a foster parent.
Foster parent requirements vary by state. Parents must be at least 21 years of age in Arkansas. However, there cannot be more than a 45-year age difference between the child and the parent.
Marriage is not a requirement for fostering. Single individuals may apply.
Every foster parent in Arkansas must:
- Pass a background check
- Have a physical exam
- Complete the Arkansas Home Study
- Complete required training classes
- Pass the home inspection
- Attend face-to-face interviews with a state foster advocate
- Maintain financial stability
In addition, foster homes must have enough room for the foster child. This includes 50 square feet of bedroom space for personal belongings.

This was the first adoption agency I visited when I considered adoption. In the 1st meeting I became quickly overwhelmed . Not only at the disorganization but the young lady who I meet with pulled out this big thick packet of paper work for me to fill out before I could even fully understand the adoption process. We worked on a little n a couple pages of the paper but I was quickly rush off due to her having another appointment. We never meet again . When I tried contacting her I was given more of the run around and was told that this agency was transitioning into another agency and someone would be in touch. That was days later and when someone did reach out she to was unorganized and seem a little rude just based on the tone of her voice from speaking with her . I quickly chose not to work with this agency and found another .

We have had the amazing opportunity to walk through the adoption process twice, in the last five years, with Bethany Christian Services out of Little Rock. This is a team that not only cares and walks you through every step of your journey but they also equip you in ways I haven’t heard of other agency’s doing. They guide you through the whole process, taking every opportunity to meet you where you are at and encourage you along the way. We are forever grateful for Dina & Becky and the whole crew at Bethany. 10 stars

We were so blessed to have been able to work with Bethany Christian Services in the recent adoption of our baby boy. Our adoption counselor, Dina, was so kind and gracious to us throughout the year long process. It’s not an easy ride, so we are so thankful to have had her by our side. The adoption counselor, Becky, who we had the honor of meeting and becoming friends with, treated our son’s birth family with such kindness and loved on them big and well while always making sure they were well informed about each and every decision they made. We could not have asked for better people to have helped complete our family.
We will forever be grateful that we chose to work with this agency. I HIGHLY recommend!

My wife and I adopted our son through Bethany. They were there with us every step of the way. The staff is amazing to work with. They became our friends through the process. The work they are doing with birth mothers and adoptive families is truly amazing.
