West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
In the early 90's, funding for child care began to increase, particularly with the implementation of the Child Care & Development Block Grant Act. For the first time, states were legally required to expend part of their federal dollars on initiatives designed to improve the supply and quality of its child care programs. Each state developed a long range plan with the assistance of planning groups that brought in state and local government as well as providers, parents, advocates and early childhood experts. One of the main components of West Virginia's State plan was to establish child care resource and referral services across the state. A development of the 1970&s, child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&R) were beginning to appear across the country and were seen as a support for state child care efforts.

Requirements to become a foster parent
When you want to apply to become a foster parent, your first step should be contacting the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources or a private foster agency. An advocate will reach out to you and answer any questions you have. Your foster agency is one of your best sources of support.
West Virginia HealthCheck is an Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment program available to kids in foster care. Through the program, foster children receive a variety of care options, including appointments for primary health and preventative services. Kids also receive dental screenings, immunizations, behavioral and developmental assessments, etc.
Foster parents may receive a subsidy for each foster child in their care as well as clothing allowances and vouchers. Talk to your foster agency to learn more about monthly foster care payments, as these vary depending on the age and needs of the child.
Check your region for foster parent support groups as well. These groups provide excellent opportunities to meet other foster families and receive help.

Literally the absolute worst. I’m always on hold for an hour plus and once someone answers, they’re rude and don’t help AT ALL.

General Counsel at State of West Virginia who the hell do you think you are? You can't kick a man with a camera out of a public building. You violated his constitutional rights. You should know better. What is wrong with you?

CPS does not follow their policy within this building nor within a court room. Before to long they will be following their own rules and regulations or the federal court will make them do so. Lawsuits already underway against WV and CPS.

Got my review in the mail. Turn in deadline said 7/1/21... mailed date was 7/12/21. Got the letter stating my benefits were ending a few days later. Called and got the review in.. its been almost three weeks since then, and we get our food stamps on the 6th.. so I call the complaint line, explain what's going on. I get rudely asked "well has it been 30 days?" No."well they have 30 days to get it processed." Click. I definitely was never rude to her, just wanted my social worker to get on her job... the rude tone in her voice and just hanging up on me was so unprofessional and just down right wrong. It's funny how we only get a short amount t of time to do our paperwork but they have 30 days? And in the meantime we are forced to fast now cuz we have no food. Good thing I made sure to buy a months worth of formul for my 9 month old.
