Foster’s Home accepts public and private placement of children at Levels of Care: Basic, Moderate, and some Specialized. We are a nonprofit agency providing residential group care and foster care. We are supported by Churches of Christ and interested individuals. We offer services to children from throughout Texas. Children are accepted through private placements, Juvenile Probation departments, and Children’s Protective Services. Children in placement at Foster’s Home are raised in a family home setting, living and learning through The Sanctuary Model®.  They attend weekly church services, are involved in the Erath County 4-H program, and attend Stephenville Independent School District.

Foster’s Home for Children provides a tutoring program called Achievers for each of our youth. Each student comes for tutorials for one hour on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program offers certified teachers to help the youth with their homework and help them learn any concepts they may have missed during their previous school years.  At Achievers, the high school youth work on their “My Future” book.  This involves looking at job opportunities, technical schools, colleges, and universities they may be interested in attending.  They investigate the cost, the admission requirements, the degrees offered, housing, etc.  The Achievers mission statement is:  As teachers of the Achievers’ Program, our mission is to create a non-violent environment that encourages students to work to their highest capacity, do required schoolwork thoroughly and timely, and explore new avenues of knowledge and skill while feeling safe in the classroom at all times.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Adults who are new to the fostering process sometimes feel overwhelmed and wonder if they will have support on their journey. Your child-placing agency is the first resource. Social services caseworkers provide aspiring foster parents with various types of support and connections. These include free educational training programs, helplines, and support groups.

It is important that foster parents build their individual support network, too. Connecting with other foster families with more experience is an excellent place to begin. Texas groups offer foster parent meetups; you can search online for the closest one.

The Texas Foster Family Association provides state training, a regional directory of support services, a summer training conference, and more. Membership benefits include getting access to foster care professionals and learning more about ways to become better caregivers. Children of TFFA members can also get assistance through the Scholarship Fund.

Austin Angels is another support organization that strives to assist foster parents and Texas foster children. They offer care packages and gifts for foster children and their caregivers, mentorship options, and education, among other resources. Foster children and teens can learn valuable skills that help prepare them for independent living, as well.

I was a 13 year old child that came from an abusive home. My younger brother and myself were placed at the foster home. I am now 54 and at times reflect back on my past and the people who made the biggest impact in my life. Had it not been for the foster home, I’m not sure what would have happened to myself and my brother. This place definitely changed my life during the two years I was there. The house parents were living and kind but firm, which is what I needed. I would love to mention the names of two sets of foster parents that made the biggest impact on me and also certain staff members. But, out of privacy I will not. Just know that this place is a great place for children in need. I know a lot of people have heard horror stories about foster homes but I can tell you that during my time here it was nothing but love, caring and people completely giving their all for us kids. Thank you do much for changing my life and giving me a chance to be a part of something so big!!! I would definitely recommend this place .

I live this place and the staff. We sponsored some of the kids and it had been a pleasure. I highly recommend others do the same. These kids are so sweet!!! The house parents are amazing and such godsends! They do such a great job with the kids and it takes special people to do what they do. This place is wonderful!!!

This place provides a great service for children in the foster care system. I would certainly recommend that people look at opening their hearts and show support. ❤

I lived there in the 80s, and kept in touch with my beloved foster mom, who was a houseparent there until she passed away in October. This place is amazing. I am still in touch with my foster siblings and gained more as the years went by. The facility is safe and whomever wrote the one bad review is either a parent who has no business caring for anyone or a troll. They are not mistreated and they are loved. The facility has plenty of activities and is Christ based. The kids are protected (trust me!!) from harm. My daughter wanted to live there until I told her I couldn't stay. We have visited and will continue to volunteer when we move permanently back to Texas.
