In 1912, the groundwork for Catholic Charities was laid with the founding of St. Joseph’s Orphanage. In the following years, other institutions were opened to serve children, families, and other people in need. Among these were a boardinghouse for young working women, a maternity home, and St. Ann’s Home for the Elderly.

In 1927, Catholic Charities expanded its services to include adoption, foster care, and pregnancy counseling. Its mission was to make Christ’s love for all human beings a visible and living reality for those in need.

Are you considering adoption as a way to start a family? Catholic Charities is a licensed child-placing agency serving the state of Oklahoma. Children placed for adoption are infants placed in our custody by birth parents who have made an adoption plan for their baby. We provide our adoption services regardless of ethnicity or religious preference.

Requirements to become a foster parent

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) provides foster care support, such as connecting parents to hotlines and listing information about the licensure process. Besides the State Department of Human Resources, many private agencies in Oklahoma are dedicated to helping foster children and the parents that care for them.

The Oklahoma Family Network (OFN) helps children with special healthcare needs. OFN can connect parents with appropriate resources and training. Their Resource Directory lists organizations and professionals by topics, such as food assistance or disability services, so you can easily find help in your area.

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is part of the Children’s Health Act. You can learn more about child trauma and trauma-informed care. There are also informational materials and training available through the NCTSN.

Additionally, private adoption agencies offer programs and support for any parent interested in fostering to adopt.

Unless you are an illegal in this country they spit on you and tell you to seek help elsewhere. This 'charity' is a joke at best. We were so washed out by the torrential rains, the floods the mosquitoes and yet they turned us away twice telling us the 1st time we had to have a paper from Red Cross, after we got the 'paper' they told us to get help from someone else. NEVER will I EVER donate to this abomination of what they pretend to represent. (Jesus said to them, 'when did you ever help my little ones? When did you clothe them? When did you feed them? What you have done unto the least of these you have done it unto ME' He said. My mother always told me to be kind to strangers as we might be entertaining an angel unaware.
