Choosing Hope Adoptions
Choosing Hope Adoptions is a full-service, non-profit adoption agency licensed in the state of Ohio. We have office locations in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Springfield, but we serve the entire state of Ohio and will travel throughout the state to meet birth mothers and prospective adoptive families.
We offer no-cost, confidential support to pregnant women who need information and advice when deciding whether to choose adoption, abortion, or parenting their child. For women who choose one of our carefully screened families for adoption, we help with prenatal care, legal services pertaining to the adoption, and financial assistance for medical and living expenses.
Since we are a non-profit organization, we hold fundraisers to help cover our administrative costs and keep adoption fees as low as possible for our adoptive families.

Requirements to become a foster parent
After deciding to foster, make sure your household members are on board with what will be a life-changing decision to foster. Then, educate yourself about Ohio's requirements for foster parents. Applicants who want to foster or adopt in Ohio must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Live in a safe and stable home
- Meet home safety requirements
- Clear a background check with fingerprinting
- Provide at least three character references
- Provide ample space for a foster child in their house or apartment
- Attend foster parent orientation
- Take part in required hours of foster parent training
- Maintain financially stability
- Prove good health
- Complete the Home Study process
To apply or ensure you meet the prerequisites, there are two primary Ohio state resources. Contact the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) or a local Public Children's Service Agency (PCSAs).
If you are ready to learn more, contact a local child-placing agency to schedule foster parent information orientation. At orientation, aspiring foster parents learn more about foster parenting responsibilities, navigating the foster system, and the foster application process. If you have questions, orientation is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and meet other potential foster families.
Administrative paperwork can take some time to complete, but having everything prepared will ensure it goes smoothly. It will help the process move along if you gather financial documents ahead of time. These include tax filings and paystubs, which you will need to show as proof of financial stability.
Foster parents in Ohio must also attend 24 hours of pre-service foster parent training. This training teaches foster families about the trauma experienced by all foster children. It also covers how to provide general and specialized care to foster children.

From an adoptive father's perspective, I could not have asked for a better agency to work with. We had a roller coaster of a ride to adopt our 3rd son. My wife and I were fearful of high fees in adoption agencies. We thought higher fees would keep us from pursuing another adoption. We had moved to Cleveland a year before we started the process of finding our adoption agency. The average cost was between $32,000 - $50,000! Don't let me get started on a ran over how wrong this is...non profits working for profit! We noticed Choosing Hope produces fundraisers on behalf adoptive couples to offset costs. In God's grace, this allowed my wife and I to immediately pursue adoption.
Our greatest love for Choosing Hope goes beyond us and the costs. We love how Choosing Hope loves birth-families. Birthmoms are loved and cared for. They are not a means to an end. Choosing Hope is there to support the families in placing or parenting. Who can't get behind this? My wife and I had two failed adoptions and yet they weren't really 'failed'. Choosing Hope rallied around us and the birthfamilies to celebrate birthmothers choosing to parent, yet they were gracious with us, knowing it is never easy to expect a child and to find out the child isn't coming home with you. While hard to take in, we were delighted to see Choosing Hope love both sides of the adoption process so well.
I can't wait to adopt again!

Choosing Hope Adoptions is an organization that I am thrilled to share with others! As adoptive parents, my wife and I chose Choosing Hope for a couple different reasons: 1) their passion to connect the hurting and the broken with the love of Christ, 2) their pure love and heart for birth families, adoptive families, and children, and 3) their hard sought desire to make adoption affordable in world where adoption costs are so prohibitive that many families that desire to adopt simply cannot afford to. Choosing Hope came alongside my family and the birth family and showed love equally to both sides. With many of them being adoptive parents themselves, they understand that this process can be heartbreaking, anxiety ridden, and joyful all at the same time. They clearly rest in the peace of Christ in these times and having them pray with my family was one of the most impactful things we experienced in our journey. We love Choosing Hope and their entire team! We hope to visit them to adopt again one day!
