Choosing Hope Adoptions
Choosing Hope Adoptions is a full-service, non-profit adoption agency licensed in the state of Ohio. We have office locations in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Springfield, but we serve the entire state of Ohio and will travel throughout the state to meet birth mothers and prospective adoptive families.
We offer no-cost, confidential support to pregnant women who need information and advice when deciding whether to choose adoption, abortion, or parenting their child. For women who choose one of our carefully screened families for adoption, we help with prenatal care, legal services pertaining to the adoption, and financial assistance for medical and living expenses.
Since we are a non-profit organization, we hold fundraisers to help cover our administrative costs and keep adoption fees as low as possible for our adoptive families.

Requirements to become a foster parent
After deciding to foster, make sure your household members are on board with what will be a life-changing decision to foster. Then, educate yourself about Ohio's requirements for foster parents. Applicants who want to foster or adopt in Ohio must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Live in a safe and stable home
- Meet home safety requirements
- Clear a background check with fingerprinting
- Provide at least three character references
- Provide ample space for a foster child in their house or apartment
- Attend foster parent orientation
- Take part in required hours of foster parent training
- Maintain financially stability
- Prove good health
- Complete the Home Study process
To apply or ensure you meet the prerequisites, there are two primary Ohio state resources. Contact the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) or a local Public Children's Service Agency (PCSAs).
If you are ready to learn more, contact a local child-placing agency to schedule foster parent information orientation. At orientation, aspiring foster parents learn more about foster parenting responsibilities, navigating the foster system, and the foster application process. If you have questions, orientation is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and meet other potential foster families.
Administrative paperwork can take some time to complete, but having everything prepared will ensure it goes smoothly. It will help the process move along if you gather financial documents ahead of time. These include tax filings and paystubs, which you will need to show as proof of financial stability.
Foster parents in Ohio must also attend 24 hours of pre-service foster parent training. This training teaches foster families about the trauma experienced by all foster children. It also covers how to provide general and specialized care to foster children.

My wife and I had made the decision to grow our family through adoption and we were recommended to a local (Cincinnati, OH) agency. We went trough all the classes and paperwork with them. Then months later the agency finally got around to processing our application. Eventually we got through our homestudy. We never quite felt connected to anyone at that agency. In fact, we had put in over a year getting through all the administrative process with them and felt like they weren’t really motivated to help us (or any of their families). We even thought about leaving, but before we ever made it to that point, the old agency sent us a letter saying they were closing their doors. Time and money were gone and we felt like needed to move fast to get our adoption back on track.
Through a little bit of research and a lot of prayer my wife found Choosing Hope Adoptions. From the very start my wife (who was doing all the initial communication at first) felt like Angela was on top of things. She was empathetic to our less than stellar past with our old agency and was great at keeping us in the loop as things developed. After about 2 months and several biological families seeing our profile we got “the call”! That’s when Angela and her crew really shined - they prayed for us, for the biological family, for the baby and helped bring comfort and peace to what was one of the most awkward and amazing moments of my life: meeting our baby’s biological family for the first time. Seriously, how people do this without Choosing Hope is beyond my comprehension.
When we met our son for the first time, Choosing Hope was there. When he had to stay in the NICU for up to 3 or 4 weeks, Choosing Hope was there. When we got to bring him home after only 8 days, Choosing Hope was there. And they are still here for us, our beautiful son, and for his biological family. And we couldn’t be happier about it;)

They dropped everything, immediately, to help us with a very unexpected and sudden "stork drop" adoption 3 hours away. They met us at the hospital to help us and the birthmother know what to do and how to fill out the paperwork in a situation where the hospital was not adoption friendly.
