Requirements to become a foster parent
The state requires that foster parents get licensed through their local Department of Social Services or a licensed private agency. These sources will be your best form of support. Through them, you'll receive training and have a point of contact for emergencies.
If you ever have questions, reach out to your case manager. They're trained to assist foster families and the children in their care.
The Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina is a statewide association that recruits new parents, provides training, and offers support. You can find training and webinars online. You can also read parenting tips, find your region, and more.
The National Foster Parent Association is a non-profit that provides training and education. Caregivers can also find free online training through the NFPA.
The NC Division of Social Services (NC DSS) is the agency in charge of overseeing the state's child welfare system. NC Kids assists new foster parents with the early stages of the process. You can find children awaiting adoption and access foster care and adoption support services.
It also helps to form connections with other foster families, especially those with years of experience. You may have questions or need advice from them. It can make you feel like you have someone on your side through your journey.

This agency is a complete and utter scam. Christians would love to know that Sheila cried and told us she's "so sorry and believes us" for weeks on end, and not to mention we proved ourselves countless times that her concerns were false, she chose to falsely report to CPS after seeing proof everything was perfectly fine with the baby and she made us jump through hoops to prove ourselves and she still falsely reported after claiming she "believed us". She purposely stretched out the adoption to start a false case, and now we can't adopt the child out and we have proven her allegations wrong to CPS and we are still being targeted and harassed and very potentially going to lose ALL of our children due to CPS wrongful involvement. Not to mention we have Sheila on record countless times saying she has no concerns for the children. So Sheila calls CPS the day before she goes to Hawaii for two weeks and blows us off, and now the agency ignored us and we can't adopt out the child because of DHS involvement. This agency refuses to help us, they are the reason for our loss of faith, telling us God has a plan and to be faithful, then backstabbing us, it's completely despicable. If our life wasn't hard enough already, they have ruined our life now. And for the record, this is Ryder James pembridge, the father of the children. Mother is not writing a review due to the harassment this God forsaken snake pit of a business. I'd give no stars if I could, one is more they deserve. Oh yeah, they also talked about selling babies and gloated about how much money they make off of your children and how the birth parents get nothing, not that we expected anything, it's just disturbing to hear, and all around disgusting.

As the executive director of an adoption agency myself, I can say with confidence that Amazing Grace Adoptions is an ethical and trustworthy adoption agency. I would not hesitate to refer to them if necessary.

We were blessed to adopt our daughter through Amazing Grace. We felt that we were able to fully trust Donnas and the staff throughout the process and found them to be forthcoming with us before, during, and after our adoption.
