Amazing Grace Adoptions and Orphan Care first opened its doors in 1999. We are licensed by the state of North Carolina as a child-placing agency, able to provide quality adoption and foster care services. We are a not-for-profit, pro-life organization that seeks funding from churches, foundations, individuals, and corporations in order to keep our fees to adoptive families as low as possible.
Amazing Grace Adoptions and Orphan Care’s mission is to serve birthparents, orphaned and vulnerable children, and adoptive families both domestically and internationally through the Biblical model of family.
Amazing Grace Adoptions and Orphan Care operates under the legal name of Amazing Grace Adoptions which is a non-profit organization registered as a 501(c) 3.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The state requires that foster parents get licensed through their local Department of Social Services or a licensed private agency. These sources will be your best form of support. Through them, you'll receive training and have a point of contact for emergencies.
If you ever have questions, reach out to your case manager. They're trained to assist foster families and the children in their care.
The Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina is a statewide association that recruits new parents, provides training, and offers support. You can find training and webinars online. You can also read parenting tips, find your region, and more.
The National Foster Parent Association is a non-profit that provides training and education. Caregivers can also find free online training through the NFPA.
The NC Division of Social Services (NC DSS) is the agency in charge of overseeing the state's child welfare system. NC Kids assists new foster parents with the early stages of the process. You can find children awaiting adoption and access foster care and adoption support services.
It also helps to form connections with other foster families, especially those with years of experience. You may have questions or need advice from them. It can make you feel like you have someone on your side through your journey.

We are very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Amazing Grace Adoptions. They were very professional, caring and compassionate throughout the entire process of our domestic adoption. We were in close contact with Sheila for our home study and are blessed to have worked with her. She is passionate about what she does and it shows in the way she interacts with families. My husband and I had the privilege of working with Donnas Kinton and her excellent staff at Amazing Grace for 20 years as foster parents and cared for many newborns awaiting adoption. Everyone at this Christian agency is caring and compassionate and working with them was a true blessing in our lives.

Amazing Grace Adoptions has been such a God-send to our family, and Sheila, our social worker through two adoptions over the course of multiple years, has been an absolute blessing in all our lives.
We met Sheila when we moved to the area immediately after returning home from China with our son. Over the period of five years, she visited us multiple times to complete China's then-required post adoption reports.
All of our children eagerly anticipated her visits.
Sheila not only loves the Lord; she loves CHILDREN -- all children. This bright, beautiful woman turned what should have been tedious social worker visits into these beautiful conversations and playtimes. She engaged with each of our children with such tenderness and love, passing balls with one as she joked with the other, all while she simultaneously gathered the information she needed to ensure she could write an accurate post-report on the condition of our integrated family.
So when we moved forward to adopt another child from China, using Sheila and Amazing Grace for our homestudy was an absolute no-brainer.
Throughout the entire homestudy process, Sheila was incredible -- even rearranging her personal schedule to visit between military deployments and a rigid work and training schedule. Every visit with this shining woman was an absolute delight, and somehow, WE always felt like the blessed ones when she walked out our door.
Sheila brings something so much more than knowledge, wisdom, guidance, and professionalism. She brings the sheer heart of CHRIST. She loves big, cares deeply and executes all things with excellence, always keeping in mind the child on the other end of her invaluable work.
And she doesn't consider her work complete at the end of the homestudy process.
We have now been home from China for 10 years with our first child and six years with our second. China has not required us to complete a report from a social worker in years. And yet, this woman who has no further obligation to our family regularly messages us to ask how we are doing and let us know that she's praying for us.
We feel so blessed that in Sheila, we not only got a social worker; we got a prayer warrior for our family for life. There is no professional who cares more deeply or ministers more beautifully to adoptive families than this woman. We're so grateful for her place not only in our children's stories but in ALL our lives.

Amazing Grace has been a God-send for our family! We adopted our first 2 children domestically through AG. For our third adoption we adopted internationally so unfortunately we couldn’t go through AG since they didn’t adopt from the country we were working with. We were, however, so excited when we learned that AG could do our post-placement visits with this 3rd adoption! Sheila is an incredible social worker who goes the extra mile to care. Amazing Grace is a trustworthy agency and every single person we’ve worked with has demonstrated integrity, professionalism and has been very encouraging along our adoption journey! They really care about the birth parents, adoptive parents, and most importantly they do what’s best for the children they are placing. I highly recommend Amazing Grace to both birth families and adoptive families.

Amazing Grace Adoptions was a lifeline for me when I found myself single and pregnant. They welcomed me, encouraged me, and never once did I feel judged. My heart's desire for my child was to grow up in a Christian family. Amazing Grace made that possible. I have nothing to say but good things about Amazing Grace. I can't imagine how I would have gotten through that difficult time without them
