Being a foster parent is so much more than loving a child in your home. It’s also showing kindness to a family when they need it most.
It’s giving a child a safe place to land during a hard, scary time when they’re away from home. And it’s showing compassion to a parent who is likely overwhelmed, scared, and without a lot of support.

It’s helping a child stay connected to the only home they’ve ever known, in whatever way it’s safe to do so, and cheering on a family that’s living out a comeback story.

At Bethany, our heart beats for family. We want to see families strong, supported, and together. But we know there are times when families face challenges—and children need care.

That’s why we’re seeking foster parents who believe in families too.

Requirements to become a foster parent

There are many services on hand to support those who foster children in Mississippi. Let's take a look at what's available for caregivers:

Support Payments

In Mississippi, foster parents receive a daily board payment from the Division of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) to help pay for the foster child's board, clothing, and personal allowances. These payments vary and can be between $22.83 and $51.55, depending on the child's age, situation, and needs.

Foster children who have special needs that are not covered by their board payment or monthly allowance can receive up to $100 per month, as necessary. However, this is not a guaranteed monthly allowance and is only provided on a case-by-case basis.

Medical and Dental Coverage

Many children in foster care qualify for medical and dental Medicaid coverage.

The foster parents have the obligation to arrange and accompany the child to all medical and dental appointments. This ensures their overall health and wellness.

Training and Support Groups

Foster parents have access to extra training and support groups. These resources give a platform to foster parents and allow them to interact with others who have experience with the distinctive challenges fostering can pose.

Plenty of inventory, simply because the prices are too high. Disorganized boxes everywhere employees show no sign of care to assist you have to find them and when you see them throughout the store they walk away from you watch out for the kid in the back on the forklift. Only one register so if you come on a busy day prepare to wait in line. I don't think I'll be coming back here just a bad experience.

I used to really like this store, but not so much lately. Seems like every time I go for an item, they're out of it. I think what really aggravated me is the fact that they are always out of so many advertised items. We went there last week after I saw a socket set advertised. Lo and behold, on the first day of the sale, at 9 a.m., the item wasn't in stock. There wasn't even a place for it among the other sale items, and my wife remarked that they never have their sale items. I told her that for now on, I am going to throw away their paper and I went home and ordered a nice set from Amazon! I also told her I won't be going back!
