The children we care for at St. Joe’s have endured trauma, but our team of experts are giving them the emotional support they need, so that we can find the perfect family for them.

There is a crisis of child maltreatment in Kentucky as the state is currently ranked sixth in the nation for child abuse and neglect. As a result, many children in Kentucky are being placed into foster care. Oftentimes, their biological parents cannot care for them because of financial hardship, loss of employment, mental health, or substance abuse. If the circumstances improve, the child may reunite with their parents, but if the child is unable to return home, adoption is the next step.

Requirements to become a foster parent

You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.

Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.

Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.

Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. When you attend the informational orientation and parent training, you'll receive books and resources that tell you more about the many available foster parent support groups.

On special days they open their grounds to events. Very hospitable!

If I could give zero stars as an option I would. The child development center has wonderful stuff that work directly with the children but the director of the CDC is a horrible individual. She mistreats the staff, degrades staff, displays favorites, does not send illl children home to avoid the spread the sickness, & refuses to tell the parents or new employees that St Joe's is no longer a catholic organization but still portrays themselves as one

The picnic was fun but the dinner food is overpriced for what you get. It is a piece of chicken, an ice cream scoop of green beans, slaw and potatoes. Not even any dessert included. Next time I come I will not eat there.
