The children we care for at St. Joe’s have endured trauma, but our team of experts are giving them the emotional support they need, so that we can find the perfect family for them.

There is a crisis of child maltreatment in Kentucky as the state is currently ranked sixth in the nation for child abuse and neglect. As a result, many children in Kentucky are being placed into foster care. Oftentimes, their biological parents cannot care for them because of financial hardship, loss of employment, mental health, or substance abuse. If the circumstances improve, the child may reunite with their parents, but if the child is unable to return home, adoption is the next step.

Requirements to become a foster parent

You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.

Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.

Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.

Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. When you attend the informational orientation and parent training, you'll receive books and resources that tell you more about the many available foster parent support groups.

Was there on 8/12. Food way overpriced but the set up was beyond
pathetic beer and tickets and potty was was so far apart if the crashers come again needs to be a better way you know it's not right when the hand complains over the mic to the crowd definitely a safety issue there

My daughter works here. This place is great in helping out children with problems. I had to add on after reading the other reviews first if you was fired from your job there definitely was a reason if you feel you wasn't being trained properly then you should have went to someone higher and ask for training. All jobs that we choice may not be the right job so then if not go get another one. I think that this place is a good place not cause my daughter works there but I've heard my daughter say nothing but good things about this place and the kids. And to say it's not about the kids so don't donate is so unnecessary and I'm sure that state makes visits so abused kids I doubt and these kids are coming from disrupted homes and if u resign what makes one think they can come n just hangout with the kids you resigned so why would you want to come hangout and who cares what who's driving or how they living was that part of your job description and let's try this out if you at work and doing your job you gonna too busy to know what your coworkers are driving. And all this bad reviews whether true or not you not hurting Noone but them kids and haven't they been hurt enough already.

This place is a terrible place to work for I worked there for maybe a month they expect you to know everything when you get out. Of training on how to talk the children there smh the other staff don’t train you at all, all the staff do is tell on you like some child etc. you don’t know how many supervisors you have because everyone wants to be in charge I guess you don’t know a job until you get there huh? So they fire you because you wasn’t trained properly obviously smh this place gets no stars from me sorry not sorry

The staff do not care! They defy court orders and because they have contracts with the state for kids with behavior issues they do not care to do what is in the best interest of the kids. CPS says they do not have any control and do not do anything to prevent the problem. They also do not allow daily phone calls and make excuses as to why they do not let the kids call home daily. Sometimes it's a week or more without letting the kids have communication with their parents. They do not have any supervision of the unlicensed staff that is required by law. LPCA can not practice without supervision however the supervisor is nowhere to be seen.
