ChildServe improves the health and well-being of nearly 5,800 children each year through specialized clinical, home, and community-based programs and services. We are experts in pediatric rehabilitation and care for children and young adults who have a wide variety of developmental delays, disabilities, injuries, and other special healthcare needs.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many new parents are worried they'll be on their own if they decide to foster. That's not true; you have tons of support on your side.
You have the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). Your local DHS recruits and approves families for fostering and adoption. They also place children with approved parents.
The Iowa Foster & Adoptive Parents Association has handbooks, contact phone numbers, information on training and case plans, useful PDFs for foster parents, and more online.
You also have your local child-placing agency for assistance. They're licensed and approved to train parents and place children in homes. You can find information on how to navigate the legal system or tips for working with birth parents, for example.
Many state non-profits dedicate themselves to assisting foster youth and the families caring for them. They may help with basic care, such as clothing or food, or educate parents on specific topics.

They were all super nice and helped me a lot especially since my baby was being super fussy when I got there. They helped me out and were very understanding.

Great service and some great workers but the front desk is always very rude and careless

They cared for my son for about 14 years.
Amazing staff. They made sure my son had the life I could not give him after my stroke. He was fully quadriplegic and tube fed, wheelchair bound with MANY health issues. Over the years we all learned alot from each other. There were some tough times but always resolved very well.
Austin touched many people's lives.
He was a smiling sweet boy. Seemed to me they all loved my son. Very much.
My favorite person would have to be Mary Goodrich, the social worker for Child Serve.
His regular nurses were like family and always will be. To me.. Theres several I will never forget. Never.
When my son passed, they made sure they did everything they could to help me and my family.
Including letting me sit there for hours until I was able to accept it, and leave. They never once left him alone and when he became very Ill, all of the nurses were there in his room with him, as they loved him so much. It's taken me almost a year to leave my review. I apologize.. Still grieving my heart out...
But I wanted anyone else.. and them, at ChildServe to know... that we/I appreciate EVERYTHING they did to help and care for and guide my son. He even graduated and I feel that is an amazing thing. Especially when he never said a word. They treated him as "normal" as possible. He even went to prom. His Teacher Stacy meant alot to Austin, and I.
I thank them all. Everyone there. Phenomenal facility. in my opinion, the best that there is. The BES .
