Unity Parenting & Counseling Inc. is a licensed child welfare agency that implements an Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) contracted Foster Care program.

One major purpose is to offer services to biological parents who have temporarily lost custody of their children, ages 0-21, for reasons of abuse or neglect. These services are geared to facilitate reunification of parent and child when possible and appropriate. A second focus is to oversee children/youth in the foster homes and support the foster parents in providing best practice care. When reunification with the biological parent Is not possible, Unity Case Managers and staff work with the foster parent(s) and the courts to achieve guardianship or adoption with the foster parent(s).

The overall program goal is to ensure the children/youth in the Foster Care program achieve maximum safety and stability in a loving home as is consistent with Unity’s mission.
Unity Parenting and Counseling is invested in making life better, meaningful and rewarding for young people and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. We empower and equip them with the resources and knowledge that can enable them to transform their lives so that they can add value to themselves and positively impact their local communities.

I love working for this agency. The director and CEO work very well with their employees and they care about the safety and welfare of the children that we service.
The agency promotes from within and it is a family like atmosphere. The administration as well as the staff are well versed in providing accurate services for the family and are committed to ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
I would recommend this agency to foster parents as well as child welfare workers looking for employment

I have been a foster parent with UPC for the past 10 years and I am truly thankful to have one of the most supportive caseworker (B.W.) that has always had my children best interest at heart. Last year two of my former foster sons were returned home to their mom and I am honored to have had the opportunity to be apart of team to help support her babies and her as she worked on and accomplished her goals. As a former youth in care (ward of the state) I truly understand and know first hand the importance of having the appropriate supports in place for the children and in care and their families to help them get to their end goal!
