Lydia Home Association
LYDIA Home Association is a Christian, non-profit organization that has
been serving children in Chicago since 1916. We provide an integrated,
holistic approach to help children recover from emotion, physical and/or
sexual abuse. We empower them to believe in a brighter tomorrow by
providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to grow.
Our foster parents are special people who provide love, structure and safety to children who can’t be with their families or on their own. Foster parents know that in foster care, patience and acceptance of what each day may bring is essential, and the gift of love goes both ways. Each foster care placement benefits from the strength of the vision shared by everyone involved: the child, the biological family, the foster family, treatWe believe every adoption is a miracle of love. LSS has proudly served the community and assisted with adoptions for more than 100 years and we continue to strengthen families through Wisconsin and Upper Michigan through public adoption and foster care.ment providers, and other significant people in the child’s life.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Illinois. To become a foster parent, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Attend foster parent orientation
- Pass a background check
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete the Home Study
- Provide at least three references
- Clear a physical exam
- Maintain financial stability
Foster families must be able to provide a safe and comfortable home for a child. You must provide room for the child to have a bed and enough space for personal belongings.
Foster parents do not need to be married or have a partner. However, if married, couples must show a stable marriage of at least one year before they can foster a child in Illinois.
Foster parents need to meet a child's basic care needs, such as providing meals and clothing. Foster families must also support a foster child's education and assist them in developing social skills.
Contact the DCFS or a local licensed child-placing agency to learn more or begin the fostering approval process.

Great place of Christian love to care for our children in need of loving family support.

Safe families is a terrible place to get help if you're in the need of getting help with your children. This place is literally designed to take your kids away from you, they are connected to dcfs and they will make false accusations. This place is made to destroy families and not bring families together. Be aware and be careful. Safe families taught me to never ask for help when I really need it. I don't know too much about Lydia home but Lydia home is associated with safe families and I will still not recommend either of them. I do not want what happened to me happen to someone else. Be very careful.

I HAVE BEEN BEGGING THESE PEOPLE TO HELP ME FOR MORE THAN 3 MONTHS. I’ve been put on hold, hung up on, lied to, told I would receive a call back and NOTHING. I NEED HELP WITH MY KIDS. BETHANY is the caseworker there who has been refusing to get me help unless I contact a caseworker, WHO IM NO LONGER WORKING WITH. I EVEN SPOKE TO DCFS ABOUT IT AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I NEED HELP. I AM ON THE VERGE OF A
MENTAL BREAKDOWN AND NEED SAFE FAMILIES HELP WITH MY KIDS. BETHANY IS USING A PERSONAL ISSUE BETWEEN ME, HER AND A WOMAN WHO WAS TRYING TO GAIN CUSTODY OF MY DAUGHTER BY MAKING UP FAKE RUMORS TO GET ME IN TROUBLE WITH DCFS, AS A REASON TO NOT ASSIST ME. I DIDNT KNOW THAT SAFE FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN REFUSED TO HELP PARENTS DUE TO PERSONAL ISSUES. TERRIBLE. YOU NEED BETTER STAFF
